Beautiful Monastery, which holds a significant importance for Albanian History. Gjergjo Kastrioti Skenderbeg was married here.
Old church of St. Trinity held his ceremony.
Monastery is open to public. Sometimes you need to knock around the door in order to get in.

If you are coming from Tirana to south Albania, this monastery is near Lushnje. It is on the top of the hill and the road is good. There is an old monastery just in the middle of the trees where you can find peace. The monastery is really beautiful.

The monastery (built 1282) boasts Romanesque arches but Byzantine style. Within its walls sits unimposing little St Mary's church. Don’t let its the humbly attractive exterior fool you. The carved wooden pulpit will astound with its hugeness, its intricacy and vestiges of its former gilded glory. And don’t miss the patriarch’s carved wooden seat. Then ogle at the famous icons-gorgeous. Especially St. George and the dragon. These products from the hands of the famous Zographi brothers of Korce, were painted during the 1700s. Amazing artistry. Perhaps its closure will be short-lived.

Set at the top of a hill in a beautiful natural setting, this gem of the past should not be missed. The visit is entirely free and definitely worth it! The ancient monastery and church will take you back in time and provide a moment of peace and wonder to all.

I enjoyed visiting this monastery, the paintings and icons are beautiful. It is interesting that Christianity and Islam live in harmony.

Hi, I'm thinking of returning to Albania in September (I was there last year) and missed out on seeing the Monastery, I do not have a car... any advice (apart from paying for a Taxi).
Thank you =)

I was on an organised tour so we were travelling around on a minibus. I don't know how you would get there without a car. I suppose a taxi would be the only way.
