You can spend a day just having fun, or just chilling.
Always like to visit the attractions in the area, when on holiday here in France, Chateau de Bridoire did not disappoint. Parking easy, and small walk to the entrance, we decided to do the Chateau and the Labyrinth trail, through the woods. Straight away you are met with a area of games, from bow and arrow practice, to knocking ducks off walls, to be honest as 3 adults, we had not had such fun for ages, yes it is designed for adults and children alike. We spent way too long having fun, as the area had so many fun games and puzzles. The Chateau was a delight to walk around, with lots of information, regarding the restoration by the Guyot family, who live in the Chateau. Lots to see, and more puzzles to play....Loved that so many rooms available to view. With a quick stop at the cafe for refreshments, we ventured into The labyrinth with puzzle paper in hand, English version available. The trail is marked, there are rivers, caves to check out, which will help you solve The Labyrinth. We took a while to get into it, but once we knew what to see and find, we really enjoyed the challenge. Bare in mind, the trail is rustic, and hilly at times, with puzzles to match the surroundings, adults and children will enjoy the trail, even if your not puzzle minded. Thanks to the Guyot family for making an attraction that caters for the whole family to learn and have fun, old and young alike.

    Great fun for whole family
This was a brilliant day out the whole family enjoyed. We did the labyrinth sporty route which took us across rivers, rope bridges, in caves and through forest. Loads of clue points to find and easily to work out in English. You get an English version to complete and kids get a lollipop on completion. The staff were so friendly and spoke so many languages. The drinks were all locally sourced and delicious after the labyrinth. The castle games were way too much fun! We had such a laugh and really enjoyed the afternoon. Worth every penny! Parking very easy and large area, easily signed from main road.

    Fun for all the family
A family visited this month with a two adults a three-year-old and a five-year-old. We paid to do the lawn games and the Château tour. The lawn games are the best part of the day with such a variety and a real insight into different forms of entertainment throughout the ages. We struggled to get the kids away from the lawn games because they were so much fun The Château tour itself was very interesting with cakes in the kitchen a peek inside the prison and lots of fun things to do upstairs All in all a good day out, however we did not do the labyrinth Trail because it takes apparently an hour and a half and you need good shoes

    Great day out
Great places for families. Lots of games and entertainment at the grounds. The building is great with avariery of room and objects on show. Staff are great. Good sandwiches. The labyrinth is more of a hiking trail so bring appropriate footwear.

We were refused entry to the maze with our 3 dogs even though it is clearly indicated in the tourist guides and on the sites that dogs are accepted!

So firstly, specify on the site/guide (in parentheses, it was the Tourist Office which sent us to this castle this very morning, even though we had specified that we had dogs...) that there is no a that an accessible route for the animals would have been a good idea so as not to move in the void. Since the second family route does not allow us (according to the agent at reception) to travel with the dogs.

Secondly, specify that the only route reserved for animals was exceptionally closed.

The castle is visibly surrounded by a park… to take advantage of it, the gentleman at reception told us that we had to pay for the entrance to the castle even though we could not go and visit the interior since we have animals… it’s ridiculous and it doesn’t make sense.

We understand for the interior of the castle to avoid any damage but then charging for an exterior… were there no dogs in the Middle Ages?!

I think we could have found an arrangement to be able to walk around the castle as the owner indicates below without having to pay the high price of a
entry which we could not have benefited from.

Really very disappointed… especially since people are certainly dirtier than dogs.

It’s not doggy country around here! Too bad because all-tourism is in vogue!

This is a small chateau with a large garden full of old-fashioned games. There were plenty of games to keep three young children entertained for hours, and they could also look at the chickens and horses. The experience was a little bizarre in that it was very understaffed - originally there was no one to take our ticket money (although someone later found us in the garden), and some of the games seemed to need staff who were not there (the knights shown in the photos). We did have a lot of fun, and I would recommend the site but in the knowledge it might feel deserted.

Whilst the château is certainly beautiful, on the day we visited the stables were an absolute disgrace! The horses and ponies had been left to stand in their own urine and droppings and were clearly in distress. We could see no signs of food or water in there and it was 32C. I found a member of staff and raised my concerns and his response was blasé at best - he said the horses were let out into the fields at night and the stables would be cleaned in the morning (it was 4pm when I spoke with him). It was evident from the state of the stables they hadn't been cleaned in days and the horses hadn't been attended to either with most of their hooves caked in urine-sodden straw. This came at the end of our visit when we were already concerned about the rabbits we'd seen which had large clumps of fur missing.

Please don't give your money to any place that doesn't make the welfare of their animals their top priority!

A visit here is well worth it if you are in the area! We were staying just up the road so couldn't leave without a trip there!
I honestly wasn't sure how it would go with teenagers but they honestly really enjoyed it!
The highlight for us was the Labyrinth! It was great fun trying to work out all the clues & complete it.
The medieval games in the Chateau grounds were also good fun! It was nice to spend some time doing something a little different!
We also had a wander around the chateau. We spent around 3.5/4 hours here & if we hadn't of been so tired from the labyrinth we would have spent longer!

Avoid with dogs.
With our dog we only had access to the “maze” part. Which is by no means a maze but a walk in the forest for €9.50.
No access to the refreshment bar/catering area or access to the toilets. You had to pay 11€50 more and leave the dog in front.
I would like to thank Google image, because without them, I would not know what this castle would look like.

Nothing to say about all the research and decoration work on the Halloween theme. Hats off.
There's a budget, it's great.
A bad note unfortunately about the organization: we came from Angoulême, arrived after 11am and forbidden access. What a disappointment for our grandchildren. Not the possibility to eat on the tables inside the site.
Some families ate in cars , others on the bonnets or trunks of cars opened .
We chose to go eat in the parking lot of Monbazillac. In short, kept the children busy while waiting for the opening.
One last downside:
Outdoor games age poorly and lack maintenance:
Lack of balls in some games ,
Misplaced ballast bag, elastic to catapult unsuitable,
It will remain a good memory all the same.
