The son of the proprietors was our guide. Excellent English and a great person. He showed us an amazing assortment of exotic plants (and birds) concentrated in the gardens there. Very pleasant hike around the premises. We also met the owner who showed us around, as well. Very pleasant family. We hope to return next year.

If you are in San Gerardo, the Secret Gardens is a must-stop for lunch or dinner. The food is absolutely delicious, the owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the gardens themselves are breathtaking and gorgeous. Make sure you spend enough time there to walk through the entire grounds. Bird watching from the dining area and make sure you try the empanadas!

If you are looking for beautiful nature, diversity of plant life , and lots of native birds this is the place. Lovely helpful Costa Rican run. There is even a cafe on site. Highly recommended!

The family that own and run The Secret Garden are beyond professional and kind. The food is superb and a favorite breakfast place for us. Shirley is an excellent baker, their rooms and cabins are very nice, and the gardens and paths are delightful. So much to see...animals, birds, turtles, ponds with flowering plants, exotic trees, etc. We've had our family here, including grandchildren, and everyone loved it! We recommend everyone stop here if only for a coffee and to enjoy the peaceful setting. I love the empanadas while my husband always gets eggs and a pancake.

A lovely garden with winding trails uphill. We were taken round the garden by Vernon the owner who only speaks a little English but our group guide Translated.
