Relaxing day cooling off in fresh water surrounded by nature
Feb 2020
I would suggest if you don't have a car rent one in Boquete or take a taxi on pricing before going to pay too much for a tour as this is a very easy place to get to and cost effective without wasting money on a tour. No toilets are available nor any shops to purchase any refreshments. Take along a coolerbox with loads of ice, easy food to eat and sunscreen a must, there is shade available as it gets very hot. The cost is $2 per vehicle on most days. The area can get busy and try go during the week when it is quieter. It is pet friendly and you can bring your dog along.

Excellent spot to spend an afternoon.

Excellent spot to spend an afternoon! We drove there from Boquete approx 30 minutes. A car pays 2$ for the day to enter. Totally worth it. Clean, fun lots of locals but no washrooms.
One of the best days spent in and around Boquete.

Meh - maybe better outside dry season
Apr 2019 • Family
We extended our stay in Boquete to take our 6 year old to Los Cangilones but found it very underwhelming and not worth the effort.

The water, contrary to reviews, was quite dirty with an obvious film of oil on top. It was murky and smelled somewhat fishy. We jumped off the slimy rocks but it felt like leaping into the void of a very deep oil barrel. We went on a Monday and the site was still quite dirty from the weekend. Most of the garbage was gone, but it was just a bit yuck. Like shower ASAP.

So maybe it was just a bad day in dry season, but i wouldn’t bother going again to find out. Wish we’d driven further to the coast instead.

Needless to say our 6 year old loved it. Tadpoles. Fish. Joy.

Very VERY cool

Los Cangilones is a must-see. Firstly, just as a structure it's amazing to see how the water has carved out the rock. Secondly, the water is absolutely perfect temperature. I've never been more comfortable. It's so much fun to jump in and swim around. The one thing I did not enjoy was that when I was there, a group of locals was washing their hair in the water. That is the best way to destroy a water ecosystem

Better than a Water Park!

I took my kids here while we were visiting Boquete. It's a little off the beaten path, but worth looking for. The kids jumped into the canyon and swam down the river several times, and even played with local kids who were swimming there. Even though it was cool and cloudy at higher elevations, it was hot and sunny near the canyons and the water was perfect! I recommend packing a picnic and staying all day.

Fun destination for all ages

We visited the mini-canyon on a weekday afternoon. It was quite busy when we arrived, but things got quieter as the afternoon progressed. The canyon is truly fun for all. There is cliff jumping (from lower and moderately high cliffs), swimming (shallow water in some areas for younger kids) and solo rock climbing. My family - 2 adults and two older teens - enjoyed it all!

Very atractive spot along the river. Great for a swim or just relaxing in the shadow. Dont come during.weekend - too many people around! And they also charge parking fee at that time.

Take the leap!
Oct 2017 • Couples
While researching things to do for our upcoming trip to Panama, my husband learned about Los Cangilones de Gualaca. What a great place! It's natural beauty is a sight to see, and jumping off the cliffs to the water in the gorge below is exhilarating and lots of fun. The gorge leads to a nice little swimming hole. It can be a little nerve wracking to take the first leap, but do it! You'll be glad you did! We arrived early on a Sunday morning because we were told it can get very crowded on the weekends with the locals. There was hardly anyone there during our time at the canyon. We were also told that sometimes there is someone collecting money to help with maintenance/clean up of the area. This was not the case for us. Be sure to bring your swimsuit, sunscreen and change of clothes. Pack a picnic lunch if you plan to stay for the day since it's in a remote location. We could have spent the whole day swimming and jumping into the river gorge, but we already had plans to travel to Vulcan that afternoon.
