The medieval wall paintings in this church are vivid and provide fascinating insight into the theological and artistic styles of the times in which they were created.

Worth a detour to see the amazing medieval wall paintings. A summary of them is given in the guide that is available in the church, along with some of the church's history.

We were lost!
Seeing a resident to where we thought we should be we asked her 'where is the church?'
Were so thrilled we did.
This lovely lady told us where we should be, and to our amazement directed us to the church, walking in front of us.
The knowledge she kindly shared with us incredible which made this visit so worth while.
Were taken in and shown the bell tower, and the squint window, which enables the ringers to view the brides or the coffins arrival, truly awesome.
We would not have known what this was or that it existed.
Niether would never have seen the inscription under the bible on the Jacobean pulpit, and been so aware that John Wesley preached his first sermon here, in 1725.
Our heritage once again, feels you with so much pride and hope that more visitors would come and spend time in this wonderful and precious church.
The paintings are superb, especially the painting of the Virgin Mary holding a lily whilst above is a dove, the symbol of the Holy Spirit.
It was a moving experience and worth the visit.
We hope one day to return.

A truly lovely church, cool inside, on a very hot sunny day, it was a well earned rest on our walk. You will be surprised to the medieval wall paintings, well worth a visit if in the area.

isolated village with an exceptional medieval church. The wall paintings are the main reason for coming here

If you are in the Oxford area, don't on any account miss seeing this church. The wall paintings which date from the 14th and 15th centuries are simply breathtaking. They are a dramatic and unique reminder of how the Church taught the word of God to people who could neither read nor write. Step back into the Middle Ages and admire these wonderful paintings.

Stopped in this village church on the way to The Cotswolds and we were glad we did. We were most impressed with all the wall paintings, some of which have been very well restored (originally 14th-15th century). There were other features in the church that interested us such as some stained glass windows. The clock on the outside of the church was very distinctive. Well worth a 45 minute visit.
