Mount Victoria National Park also designated as Asean Heritage Park. The region is mountainous and can reach through treacherous dusty winding road. Mount Victoria is 10,200 ft above sea level. From the base station, you can then trek up for 3 hours up to the top. The view along the way is fantastic where you can view surrounding forested mountains and the top is spectacular where you can see the entire National Park.

Dec 2015 • Couples
We were lucky enough to be able to spend some time in Chin State last December and visit Mount Victoria National Park during a day trip on our way from Kanpetlet to Mindat,

The view from the top is breathtaking and there are a lot of unique flowers and plants around. The rhododendrons just started to blossom and we have seen some rare orchids as well.

If you’re still a little unsure about the idea of stepping out of your usual destinations, don’t worry! Here is an Idea for you! That’ll make you pack your bag, get your ticket and take your first step into there.
It’s completely an Ecologically Based Traveling.
Located in Southern Chin State; within three townships, Kanpetlet, Mindut and Matupi; part of Western Myanmar.
Natma Taung National Park (Wildlife Conservation Park)
is one of the ASEAN Heritage Parks, is a place of untouched natural beauty, rich biodiversity of Flora and Fauna, Ever Green Forest, Hill Savannah, Pine Forest, Cherry and Orchids. Famous for their Endemic Species; Rhododendron arboretum Red, White and Yellow, Potentilla montisvictoriae, Roscuoesa australis. Ref:
And is also top spot for Bird watching.

#Hiking up to the Summit
The most accessible destination in Natma Taung National Park is a chance to hike up to Mt.Victoria (in English) - Natma Taung (in Myanmar) - Khonuamthung (in Chin) which is located 10200 ft above sea level.
Mostly an hour drive on S-shape rough roads (fill with gravels) takes you to 10 miles quarter (8000 ft) from your hotel zone at 6000 ft above sea level.
From 10 miles quarter, take 3 hrs walk reaching to the summit and 1.5 hrs for return.
There’s also available `to and from’ motorbike carry from there. But for those who wants challenging and are seeking for the Unspoilt Nature, I honestly encourage you to take fully hiking trip to the summit escaping from your daily life. It’s only 3.5 miles (2000 ft) hike up to reach the summit from 10 miles quarter.
#When to go
December, January and February are the perfect timing to visit there when rhododendron bushes that cover the slopes are in full bloom.
#Getting there
Visiting Mt Victoria is done via Nyanug U. From here, a hundred and three miles to Kanpetlet town which is located at 4000 ft above sea level, Southern Chin State; begins with four- to five- hour ride on acceptable road condition by hiring Private transport or Public transport.
#Route_Map
Yangon – Nyaung U(Bagan) – Chauk - Seik Phyu – Saw – Kanpetlet
#Two_Wheels or #Four_Wheels
Only if you’re traveling in rainy season or driving by yourself all the way up to the summit, your vehicle has needed four wheels drive system. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter!
*Some of the access roads (between Saw and Kanpetlet) are rebuilding and under construction process. But it is okay to drive.
#Where to Stay
Recently, there are only five hotels in Kanpetlet, Natma Taung area. I covered three hotels for your contact and info:

#Where to Eat

*There’s only one Burmese style and Chin traditional style curry shop in Kanpetlet town (at 4000 ft). But it’s unlikely to come down for a dinner from your hotel in no light condition usually the night time. So I didn’t try that one.

#Donation
Chin state remains one of the least developed areas of the country. Chin state has the highest poverty rate of 73% as per the released figures from the first official survey. Ref:
If you have plan on visiting Chin state, I kindly suggest to you bringing any school supplies or medicines or your extra clothing etc: for donation. You can see those beautiful smiles through their innocent bright eyes while they are receiving your donating.
*A proper local guide can get you to a village where you can donate. Hotel can be arranged for hire local guide.

Tips:
Bring Mountain Parka, warm clothing, cold gear, gloves, hats, sunglasses, hiking boots. (its all time cold wether and extremely windy at nighttime)

Great Place for Nature-lovers & it's only place to see Tattooed face Chin Ladies around Kanpetlet & Mindat. It's one of the famous national parks in Myanmar with third highest mountain in the country. Hiking to Mt. Victoria top is really great pleasure! Trekking to Chin Tribe villages is worth to do to see their ways of life & tattoo ladies.
The best route to there ( to explore Mt.Victoria and surrounding area ) is that first to Kanpetlet from Bagan via Chauk , SeikPhyu & Saw. Then Explore Mt. Victoria & discover around Kanpetlet for two days & Then Proceed to Mindat for Chin village trekking around it. The Best Route is Bagan-Chauk-Saw-Kanpetlet-Mt.Victoria-Mindat-Pakokku-Monywa or Mandalay!
Enjoy your travel to Chin State

This was the legendary mountain before what I learnt in Geography. Now is time to set my feet on it.So happy for it.This is a must-do in Chin State.
Coz it locates at (100,20) ft above sea level,it's not ok to hike up and down for everyone.I am also like to take hiking experience but it's better do with motorbikes only.Otherwise, you will be exhausted coz of hiking for sure even in a few minutes.
It will take only (15)minutes to go to top of the mountain and to go down to the ground by taking motorbikes.
But it will take about 2 & half hours to go up and down by hiking.
It is not a good place for very young children and old people coz this is adventurous and tiring trip.Cold weather is also another important factor to count when you wish to come to Chin State.
Thanks for reading.l

Been to Nat Mat Taung twice (Mt Victoria), the first time in 2013 it was a great experience. I was almost alone (with guide) during the 5 hours trek from the entrance of the park to the summit at 3000m with a mere 500 meters climb from the entrance of the park to the end the trekking wasn't difficult, the nature was dry but rich with rhododendrons bushes and hummingbirds picking the rhododendrons, I understood well why this was named a natural reserve.

I returned in December 2016 it was very different. From the minute we started the climb for the next 50ish minutes we crossed about 50 motorbikes going up or down to/from the summit. A very noisy unpleasant experience, birdwatching was not possible. A natural reserve should truly be looked after in a better fashion, pollution will, in time, kill the rhododendrons and the birds will flee or die due to pollution.
Unless this was a punctual misfortune, the government and/or local authority should improve this latter problem if they wish to have foreign trekkers still visiting and UNESCO validating the park's 2014 submission request.

Foreign travellers who must be better educated to ecotourism than Myanmar, should be the first leaving their motorbikes at the entrance in respect of the beautiful nature and not the least to other foreign trekkers who come there for birdwatching and to enjoy the silence of this very remote place.

Dec 2016 • Solo
If you are looking for a solo hiking adventure during the winter season in Myanmar, I would recommend this place. I prefer to go solo for this place so that you can experience the best of the place. The best view of natures and nice weather for your holiday. The transportation might be a little bit rare but there are some more hotel zone that are still under development stage while I was there. I lived in Floral Breeze Villa. Helpful staff and nice room with hot water for 24 hours.
