Bar staff
Aug 2019 • Couples
Called in from a walk along the river for a bite to eat and a drink. Menu was great a bit of something for everyone and good value for money. When food arrived it was piping hot and delicious however the woman behind the bar has a serious attitude problem and spent more time on her mobile phone than actually on the bar doing her job. Such a shame that she lets the place down.

Breakfast
Jul 2019 • Couples
A walk along the riverside brought us to a sign advertising food on offer at the Clubhouse, so we decided to give breakfast a try (10am) We were not disappointed, greeted by friendly staff and good menu we opted for a traditional and smaĺl traditional breakfasts. With upstairs views of the golf course both breakfasts represented excellent value and were very tasty. Extra toast and tea were also offered but with the thought of walking back feeling rather full we politely declined. It will be a car journey next time I visit..head towards Clara Vale cross railway line and bear right for 300 yards for access to big car park.

Very poor

So as a course, far to many holes have the green right next to a different tea box which is both time consuming and dangerous. The state of the grounds were well kept however the reception we got from the Female club was appalling. We had a tea off time booked for half 12 which was paid for. Within 10 holes we had already voluntarily allowed 2 groups of women through as they had a “match”, shortly after a third group approached us quite abruptly, asking where we had came from and then saying we have jumped in front of them. They sat back and allow us to get a good distance ahead when we informed them of what we had done. After we finished the 18th hole, who I can only presume to be the captain for the ladies’ team (a member of the first group we had let through) approached us and stated we should have allowed the third group through because that is golf etiquette. She reiterated that we should be more considerate several times and acknowledged she was grateful for letting her and the other group through.

1st of all they shouldn’t be selling tea off times while there is a club match
2nd of all, clearly as we had let 2 groups through we were being considerate and “following golf etiquette” and if these are the type of people they have representing the course it does not deserve ours/your custom
Lastly, the course isn’t even nice.

Gone down hill
May 2019 • Friends
We’ve played Ryton quite a few time and it’s always been excellent. We were very surprised at the current condition of the greens and tee boxes at the weekend. The greens were patchy and bumpy, and I don’t think one tee box was flat. Some of the bunkers hadn’t been raked for so long they had grass growing in them.

It’s a shame it’s taken a step back as it was an enjoyable course, hopefully things are put right soon.
