Charming & Breathtakingly Picturesque
Nov 2018 • Friends
What a humbling experience to be able to see this historic chateau in the beautiful countryside of Normandy. Marc Boudier was such a gracious host and took so much pride + joy in telling us the history and story of Chateau D’Etelan as he walked us through the castle grounds. It was so magnificent to be able to see the renovations being done at the time of my visit as well; to see each meticulous detail that needed to be captured to restore the chateau back to its original grace and elegance. I can’t wait to come back when it’s complete! Of course the views are breathtaking as well! It didn’t feel real looking over the walls... it was definitely an experience that only being there in person could capture!

A gem in Normandy
Nov 2018 • Couples
On our recent trip to France, we had the pleasure of visiting Normandy. The highlight of our trip was our tour of the Chateau d'Etelan. A 14th Century gothic chateau nestled in the Seine-Maritime region, its restoration and maintenance has been in the loving hands of the Boudier family since the 1970s. It is a modest castle with phenomenal views of the Seine River valley. You can visit the chateau, chapel and gardens. The Boudiers are welcoming and very knowledgeable about the chateau. We felt transported to a different time. Well worth the trip!

A fine concert season
Sep 2018 • Solo
This chateau and its park are remarkable for the architecture, splendidly restored and maintained, its views and proximity to the Seine, and for me quite important, its concert season. On the second floor there is a great room seating 50 or so persons, beautifully decorated with excellent acoustics where several concerts a year are given, always in excellent taste, generally chamber music, and always with that special French twist. I've been several times to these concerts and am always highly entertained.

Wonderful day-out!
Jun 2018 • Couples
We were delighted to discover this gorgeous, privately-owned chateau, tucked away in the countryside. The owner Marc is ever so friendly and passionate about the property. He gave us a very enthusiastic tour. We particularly enjoyed being able to walk around the grounds on our own. There are three loops of varying distances, for people to meander in the Chateau's park.

Magnificent building, magnificant cultural attractions
Sep 2017 • Solo
I've been to this splendid site many times over the years, and it's always a fresh experience. The park surrounding the main structure is beautifully maintained and good for a stroll on any fine day no matter the season. The building itself is excellently preserved and maintained -- the private chapel within the main structure is an absolute gem; and the season of concerts and art shows from spring to fall are always a delight to attend. Concerts are presented in the chapel and in the main salon -- seating for perhaps 50 persons offers an intimate setting for music of all sorts even including dramatic readings (in French). The Chateau d'Etelan is not far down stream from Rouen, and it's a must-visit along with many other significant Norman attractions on the river route from Paris to the sea.

Lovely Privately-Owned Castle
Jun 2015 • Couples
My husband and I found this castle on google and decided to go see it. It was the first weekend they were open for the season and we were given guided by the owner. We really enjoyed the castle and the garden. It was cool to hear first hand knowledge of castle refurbishing as well. We did the tour in French, not sure if it's possible in English. Check to see the hours before going, as they are not open every day.
