Interesting but ....
Jan 2020
The first stop on the Golden Circle Tour -- it is a 2 hour drive from Reykyavik. We stayed 1.5 hrs. It was crazy windy (like 40 mph winds) and cold and icy, so the walk to see the geysirs was difficult. The tour had been cancelled the day before and the roads had just reopened so it was no joke. If you have been to Yellowstone it was kind of a let down but it was still neat to see -- one geysir goes off every 4-5 min. We stayed here for lunch -- the cafe had a lot to choose from and was good. They don't allow any outside food but we ate our sandwiches anyway. There is a sit down restaurant and a nice European style cafe towards the back which we didn't see at first. The gift shop was nice but since everything in Iceland costs a fortune we just looked around. We stayed here too long in my opinion -- but some of that has to do with the weather -- it was too nasty to stay outside and look around. On a nicer day there are some longer walks in the area.

Must see on the Golden Circle!

Simply stunning & spectacular! Very very icy in winter so wear appropriate foot wear. Parking close by, so it's a short walk on mostly level ground. The cafe & gift shop is lovely too! Best traditional Icelandic lamb soup we had! Be sure to stay behind the ropes as water is super hot (80-100C). Lots of small steams, boiling pools of water, and geysers! Must see!!

Amazing thermal field

These fields had amazing colors and the geyser didn't disappoint. The geyser erupts anywhere from 2-10 minutes apart which makes it easy to get a video.

Once in a lifetime

The geothermal field is pretty cool to walk through. Just follow the stream of people to find strokkur. It erupts every 10-15 minutes and although it isnt as large as Old Faithful, it is more active.

Haukadalur, Iceland

Never saw anything like this in my life before. A live active geysir bursting out every 5-10 mins 24x7. Truly justifies the 'land of ice and fire' name for Iceland.

Cool to see but a bit overrated in my view

I mean, yes it’s cool that the water shoots out and the amount of minigeysers throughout is also neat. But the large geysir event is so quick when it happens it’s a bit of an anticlimax. Of the Golden Circle Tour this was my least favorite attraction. You can easily see it and be done in 15-20 minutes. Whole area smells like rotten eggs :)

Predictable Awesomeness

You can almost set your watch by the eruptions every 5-10 minutes. The geysir is just a short walk from the main road. It is best to stand back and determine which way the wind is blowing and where to stand.

Impressive Geysir
Sep 2018
Yet another stop off, The Geysir will erupt every 5 mins or so some will be big some not so big but still worth a look. Strong smell of sulphur as you would expect but it's not an issue and it's just nature

A very Dramatic Geysir
Jun 2018 • Couples
We stopped at the Geyser and Hot Springs area on our way south from Gullfoss waterfall. Strokkur erupts about every 10 minutes. Some eruptions are almost a burp but when it fully erupts it is awesome. Have your camera ready because it goes very quickly. Lots of bubbling spots and steam vents. Keep downwind as much as possible.
