Very nice campground. This was my first time here and really enjoyed hiking in the woods and shore line. I have a 30' Class C and my site had plenty of space around to "breath". Attended the Halloween event this year and it was great...More

Had a great time! Facilities were very clean. Great beach for rock hunting! Glad we had swim shoes. Camp sites are very open and close to other campers. I will look for a more private camp site next time.

If you are looking for a day trip, this park has it all. Beautiful shaded picnic areas (grills too), and a nice beach to pick for rocks and swim.

Lakeport State Park is a great campground close to home. Was so surprised to find that it seemed like a real "up north" campground being so close to Port Huron with all the amenities. Very clean and well kept state park and we will definitely...More

Lakeport is a great local campsite without a long drive and hassle. If you explore just north of the campsite there is an old local bar called the Tallyho Inn! Great owners and atmosphere. Campsite has updated and clean facilities and you can’t beat the...More

We camp out regularly and Lakeport is one of our favorite spots close to Port Huron, and a relatively short drive from Grosse Pointe Park. Campsites are well maintained and the staff is courteous and helpful. We like meeting the other campers who share the...More

Things to do in Port Huron weekend of July 17 thru 20th (2 Replies)
We are camping in Port Huron on the weekend of July 17th thru the 20th. Even though we are veteran campers, we have never stayed in Port Huron (once at Lakeport State Park-but never again-lol). Any suggestions for activities? I know it is the PH to Mac boat race weekend, so I am sure there is lots to watch as far as that is concerned, but any suggestions on the "where" this party occurs and other such info? Thanks!

The party starts Thursday with many vendors set up along the river and then gets moving on Friday night with everyone strolling along the river looking at the 300 or so sailboats jammed in there, bar hopping, etc. I haven't gone recently and know it is tame compared to years past (the cops cracked down). Just go downtown and you'll find it. Go to Mainstreet Visitors Center in the middle of downtown (west side of the street) for info and also Vantage Point which is a great place for freighter...More
