Winter (January/Early February) The cold season is here and the Cairngorms feel more like the arctic every day. The reindeer have grown in their thick winter coats to keep nice and cosy over the long winter and at the moment are all out on the...more

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Cannot rave enough about this trip and the opportunity to walk amongst and hand feed such beautiful creatures.
Be sure to arrive early to secure a place - we got to the centre at 10am for the 11am trip and the queue...More
Great thing to do if you love wildlife but we arrived around 2pm and didn’t know that trip up the mountains to feed and see all reindeers was only at 11am so our option was to see reindeers in their enclosure.
We were only able to visit the paddock today due to time but we weren’t disappointed. There were four beautiful and friendly reindeers who were happy to come and have a look at us! The wonderful staff came and did a feed while we were...More
Had a great time at this experience. The guides were lovely and very informative. You have to arrive early, as you can only book on the day and it gets very busy. But the experience was worth it. A great chance to meet the herd,...More
We visited on Tuesday, which was a very wet and windy day, but we arrived really prepared with everyone having waterproof bottoms and coats, hats and gloves. We are a family of 5, youngest being 4 years old, but a very able walker. The 20...More
Well, what can I say? What a fabulous experience! This is a MUST if you’re visiting the Cairngorms! The reindeer are so tame and friendly. The walk is a very easy 15-20 minute walk and worth every minute of it! The two herders/guides we had...More
What a lovely visit we had today. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we were unable to do the trek ( adults only) due to adverse weather. The staff were apologetic and just looking out for everyone’s safety and cannot control Scottish weather...More

Glad you still had a good time in the Paddocks despite not been able to do the Hill Trip. I'm really sorry you weren't able to go on that, but it would have been unmanageable, and unsafe, for a 6 year old in the conditions,...More
First visit and it was amazing. We got to feed the reindeer and the reindeer herders were so passionate and informative. It is evident they love their jobs. We would love to go back in the future and walk up the mountain to see how...More
Simply fantastic - the reindeer are calm and friendly as are the staff. You're given the opportunity to walk through both the make and female paddocks and then to hand feed some- an experience I'll remember for life. The guides are knowledgable and kind, and...More
The reindeer were lovely - inqusitive, calm and relatively friendly.
It was a nice 20ish min walk up from the carpark where the tour starts, but a bit hilly which may not be your thing!
The guides were all good too. The young guy leading...More

Hi Laurie, as you might have gathered from the diverse variety of responses here, it really depends on how busy it is and which time of the year it is. Usually we are quite busy in summer and around Christmas time, so then we advise people to be here as soon as the centre opens just to be sure you could get a spot on the 11am hill trip. Around those dates we also do hill trips later on in the day (2:30pm may-sept + additional hill trip at 3:30pm july & august) so that people who missed the 11am tour can still go up the hill. The 2:30pm and 3:30pm hill trips are usually less busy, but there are also fewer spots on it due to a limited availability to park your car at the carpark where we begin our tour. Therefore, again, the more in advance you get here, the more chance of getting a spot. The other times of the year are usually less busy, so half an hour in advance could suffice at those days. However, we do sell our tickets at a first come first served basis, which means that we could sell out at any point at any day, unfortunately! I hope this reply sufficiently answers your question.

Hello, sorry, just seen your question. Both the Reindeer Centre and the Ski Centre are on the 31 bus route, so yes, you'll be able to use this bus to travel between the two. It runs roughly once an hour during the day, and the driver will be able to tell you when to get off.
If you're planning on joining one of our hill trips, please note that the walk starts from about a mile up the road from the Reindeer Centre. If you arrive early we will hopefully be able to offer you a lift up with us.
