Summer is firmly here to stay in the Cairngorms so why not visit Britain's only free-ranging herd of reindeer in their natural habitat. It's a time for shedding that thick winter coat, grazing and putting on weight for the reindeer as well as growing your new antlers! Visits go every day at 11am and 2.30pm (additional 3.30 in July & August) at this time of year, follow a reindeer herder as you make your way up to the mountain enclosure, walk amongst reindeer, stroking and feeding them as the herder tells you more about them. Situated in the centre of the Cairngorms National Park, you will also enjoy beautiful views of the Cairngorm Mountains. The walk takes around 20 minutes and will cross some rough and muddy ground on the mountainside so make sure you've got some sturdy footwear and some nice cosy layers! Don't fancy the hill trip? For those less able, from Easter to New Year, we have a small group of reindeer in the paddock at the Centre itself, quizzes & Crafts.

We had a fantastic morning with the reindeer, the guides were great and you really got to interact with the herd! We came back a couple of days later for our little girl to see the reindeer in the paddock and she loved stroking them, fantastic place! Can't wait to visit again on our next trip to Aviemore!

We had 26 people in our group ranging in age from 13-83, and this was a highlight in our trip. We met up at the Visitor's Centre, crossed the rode and took the nice, easy hike up. The tour guide was great about expectations and information. She seemed like she really enjoyed her job. The reindeer were so sweet and... More

The guides were really informative and friendly. The short hill walk to where you feed the reindeer was stunning. There was plenty of time to touch and feed the reindeer and wander amongst them. A great outing for all ages.

Do yourself a favour and book in for the hill trip. We followed Julia & Fran, our guides, in our car. Once we reached the car park it was about a 20 min walk up the mountain. There were stone stairs in parts, and a bridge. An easy walk for most but elderly or anyone with mobility issues may find... More

Amazing to be so close to the beautiful reindeer. We have enjoyed enjoyed the hill walk two years running. The staff are very helpful and try to ensure everyone can actually feed the reindeer.

The hill walk was lovely in itself and feeding reindeer by hand the typing on the cake. Guides were pleasant and well informed. Good footwear is necessary BUT they do have wellies to rent if you don't have boots.

Been to visit the reindeers twice now and at different times of the year where you see the reindeers antlers at different stages. A good walk out to meet them, a must to wear wellies or walking boots. The reindeers do come up close and walk around you whilst feeding them. Guides are great at explaining everything! Great for children... More

A must do trip when in the area!! Very reasonably priced trip up to feed the reindeer up the mountains. We arrived a little bit earlier and our ticket price allowed us access to the reindeer centre prior to our trip. Would be amazing in winter with all the Santa/elf themes. Definitely recommend wellies or boots or hire them from... More
