The cold season is here and the Cairngorms feels more like the arctic

every day, the reindeer have grown in their thick winter coats to keep

nice and cosy over the long winner. Visits to the herd are every day at

11am at this time of year, you will walk amongst the reindeer, stroking

and feeding them as the herder tells you more about them. Situated in

the centre of the Cairngorms National Park, you will also enjoy

beautiful views of the Cairngorm Mountains. The walk takes around 20

minutes and will cross some rough and muddy ground on the mountainside;

sturdy footwear and waterproof layers are a must! Visit numbers are

limited so please arrive as early as possible. Don't fancy the hill

trip? For those less able, from Easter to New Year, we have a small

group of reindeer in the paddock at the Centre itself.

Well worth the repeat visit, came here last year in early Feb, in the snow, today was windy and damp. The short trek from car park to the reindeer herd was across some quite boggy ground, check their website before visiting as they advise on conditions and suitability for children. Wellies can be provided for a small fee, hiking sticks... More

A unique opportunity to meet these friendly, gentle beasts and to hand feed them. A short scenic walk accompanied by an informative ranger will take you to meet the herd. There are plenty of photo opportunities and you can spend as long as you like. They all have individual characters and some are quite comical. A unique experience not to... More

The highlight of our winter trip! We stayed at a bnb in Aviemore and took bus no 31. We were lucky because it snowed the day before we came and the weather was beautiful when we visited. The view during the hike to reindeers is simply breathtaking. Tips for winter visit: 1. Waterproof and warm clothing 2. Sturdy hiking boots/wellies... More

It is good spot on the way to the Cairngorns. If You have 3-4 hours take a walk to the Reindeer. You are going to see amazing natore on the way If You do not have it, just come to se a few raindeers iving just in the ranch. It is not so exciting, but better then nothing. If You... More

Have done this a couple of times and it most certainly doesn't disappoint. The staff are devoted to these animals knowing so many of them by name. Seeing them roam free on the hill but coming for food and interacting with you is amazing. Well worth a visit.

This is one of the most joyous things we have done with our teenagers. So exciting feeding these beautiful animals on a cold and sunny January day! Just awesome!

We went here spontaneously because we met some people up on Cairngorm mountain who said there were reindeer everywhere. She thought the centre was closed but I found it open when I thought I'd try my luck. The hill walk was fully booked so our only option was to pay £3, but I enjoyed watching them and they came pretty... More

What a fun place! Staff are superb! Great for young and old visitors. Option to go out on hill visit - 1 hours walk - not so good for wee ones.

We just turned up in the passing. Whilst the trip to view the reindeer on the mountain left at 11am (best be there by 10.30 to secure a space) we turned up at 12pm. We were able to view the deer in the paddocks. There were lots of little areas suitable for small children like an elf house, BBQ house... More

You can't pre book or even pre reserve which is frustrating. It says that they hardly ever fill up for the hill tour so we were surprised that on a cold January day we got there and it was full. We were there 20 minutes before the tour and saw another 2 disappointed families. I think if they kept better... More

Many thanks for your review, and I’m sorry you were disappointed by your trip to visit us. I do appreciate that it is very frustrating to get here and find the Hill Trip is already fully booked, but unfortunately we cannot offer pre-booking and the only way we can sell tickets is on a first come, first served basis.
