Summer is firmly here to stay in the Cairngorms so why not visit Britain's only free-ranging herd of reindeer in their natural habitat. It's a time for shedding that thick winter coat, grazing and putting on weight for the reindeer as well as growing your new antlers! Visits go every day at 11am and 2.30pm (additional 3.30 in July & August) at this time of year, follow a reindeer herder as you make your way up to the mountain enclosure, walk amongst reindeer, stroking and feeding them as the herder tells you more about them. Situated in the centre of the Cairngorms National Park, you will also enjoy beautiful views of the Cairngorm Mountains. The walk takes around 20 minutes and will cross some rough and muddy ground on the mountainside so make sure you've got some sturdy footwear and some nice cosy layers! Don't fancy the hill trip? For those less able, from Easter to New Year, we have a small group of reindeer in the paddock at the Centre itself, quizzes & Crafts.

We did this trip after seeing it on BBC - Scotland Wild Heart. It is a lovely walk up to meet a small group of about 20 reindeer. Everyone gets the chance to stroke & feed them. They are gentle creatures & are very at home in this environment. It was £14pp but worth it. The guide was informative about... More

This is worth visiting if you have kids and want to see some reindeer up close. There is also a small information section to explain a little about the life of reindeer and how they have their antlers.

On a gloriously warm September day in the Cairngorms, with fantastic views all round, a short walk with an entertaining guide. Two grandchildren had no problems with the walk, and got to feed reindeers

Thoroughly enjoyed our morning with the reindeer! The views that you get of the Cairngorms is stunning! And you also get a very informative guide. Got plenty of good photos but the highlight of the trip is the feeding of the reindeer! They are so very tame, they come and eat out of your hands. Thoroughly enjoyed the day!!

We stopped to look around the shop on our way to Aviemore. Bit disappointing. Souvenirs and books etc., bit expensive. Took a few bits back from here to grandchildren from our holiday, colouring books etc. Took a\z few pics outside with the reindeer board showing the shop. We were staying with a friend in Inverness who brought us to the... More

Many thanks for your review. However, it's a bit of a shame to give us a poor review solely for our shop, when our entire business is centred around visiting the reindeer herd, be it up on the hill or out in the paddocks, and it doesn't sound like you did either. It's a bit like reviewing a restaurant based... More

We had a lovely time feeding the reindeer. We took our 3 year old and 4 year old who loved petting the reindeer. The walk to the reindeer herd was really scenic and not too difficult. Once we were with the herd we were given food and the reindeer were gentle to feed. We were given whatever time we wanted... More

Visited the paddocks. £3.50 for an adult. The reindeer were friendly and came to the fence to 'speak' to us. Found it very interesting, lots of info to read and different antlers etc. which you can touch.

Fab opportunity to get close to reindeer! Lovely idea to have activities for the kids before setting off! Not good if you can't walk up hill (20 minute walk ). Great views and nice to see some of the hills walking!
