The hills are turning green, the sun is mostly shining and spring is here to stay! Take a visit to see Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer in their natural habitat. May is an exciting time for us reindeer herders as antlers are beginning to grow and it’s calving season! Visits go every day at 11am and 2.30pm at this time of year, follow a reindeer herder as you make your way up to the mountain enclosure, walk amongst reindeer, stroking and feeding them as the herder tells you more about them. Situated in the centre of the Cairngorms National Park, you will also enjoy beautiful views of the Cairngorm Mountains. The walk takes around 20 minutes and will cross some rough and muddy ground on the mountainside so make sure you’ve got some sturdy footwear and some nice cosy layers! Spaces are limited so please arrive in good time for your chosen visit. For those less able, from Easter to New Year, you can visit a small group of reindeer in the paddock & exhibition at the Centre, quizzes and crafts for children.

Amazing walk, scenery and informative talk given by guides. Reindeer were friendly and we fed and stroked them. Both guides were very experienced and fun to be with. The guides seemed to be enjoying the trip as much as we were which was lovely 😀...More

After booking on at the centre you meet at the sugarbowl carpark halfway up Cairngorm Mountain. Our guide, Sheana, took us through some great countryside just above the treeline. In less than 30 mins we were with the herd. You get the chance to feed...More

I think it can be snow there, as we have seen cablecar equipment for skiing - and this is a big investment, so logically there must be snow. If you want to see and feed the deers you better check their homepage - as I think... More

Hi, Sorry for the slow reply! You should allow about an hour for the Paddock area with a 6 year old, as they will be the ideal age for all the children's activities there. Best wishes Hen
