Ottoman Empire won the battle but sadly lose the war. Young - skilled - men lost in vain, same ships were in İstanbul in next year. I am proud of my ancestors who were died ro defend my country. I am sad for such impotent sultans - ministers of those times who were caused such remarkabke losses.

This site with the tall memorial with the Turkish flag at the top really is breathtaking up close. It's visible from many miles away…the surrounding area and cemeteries (glass headstones listing the names of martyrs from each city) is organized exceptionally well and is just really pretty.
The monument depicting Mustafa Kemal and his 57th regiment who all died is also quite large and takes your breath away.
The picture panels with individual stories are really informative, worth the time to read.
The museum was closed since we got there late but that's supposed to hold personal items from the soldiers. Hopefully next time will make more time.

This is the main monument raised for the memory of 213.882 Turkish soldiers who lost their lives during the Battle of Gallipoli. The monument is 42 meters long and its construction took 6 years. Many Turkish people have contributed financially through donations to the construction of this monument. It is very simple yet very imposing, its commanding position adding a lot to this ambiance. There are also hundreds of symbolic tombs in the area along with sculptures and reliefs depicting war scenes. It's almost always very crowded here and sometimes it's hard to even find a parking lot. So it's best to go there early in the morning before the crowds arrive

When you know the story of this man who carried the 145kg Shell behind his back up the steps - single handedly & fired it to ward off the Allied Ships steaming to invade Istanbul, who turned around & some days later sent troops to Galippoli (and everyone reading this knows what happened there !) this place is a must to visit !

As a visit to Gallipoli we visited both the ANZAC sites and the Turkish sites. It is just as important to understand both sides of the battle to put it all into perspective. A must visit.

There aren't many things to see in this town so this is one of the rare sights really worth a visit. This is one of the historically most important battle sites in this part of the world, so if you're into history this will be a nice sight to see.

Their biggest memorial and well worth the visit. Incredibly moving and beautiful at the same time. The Turkish government have put a lot of well thought out effort into this.
