Visited this shelter not sure what to expect, on arrival we were immediately welcomed by the lady who runs it (Brendy). She told us how she had moved to India with nothing and had been since then living there for years. The shelter is really clean and all the dogs and cats (inc. puppies and kittens) are friendly and well looked after - so well that the numerous amount of animals all have names, which the workers all remember.
The animals are vaccinated and safe, so you can give love to them all!!
The business supports the local community by giving food to them for the stray dogs on agonda beach.
Would highly recommend visiting this lovely place and maybe buy a t-shirt/ souvenir to support them.

Such a lovely find when looking for activities to do while travelling in Agonda, we were instantly welcomed by the lovely Brendy who showed us around and told us all about her amazing shelter she had created! Also got to cuddle lots of adorable animals, lots of dogs and cats as well as the cutest puppies and kittens! She was such a kind lady and would highly recommend stopping by and showing your support to such an amazing organisation!

We found a tiny kitten in Agonda who was very distressed and after not having other options we were looking for a solution as we were only on an afternoon trip to the town.

We heard about the shelter and we were very lucky that we were able to drive to the shelter and meet Brandy and the team who were truly delightful. It was inspiring to see such happy dogs with good care and feel so welcomed leaving such a tiny kitten that we know will be well loved.

We walked away feeling inspired about the care provided to all the animals. An amazing Goa experience and we were delighted that we could find a place for a tiny lost kitten.

We found 7 abandoned puppies on Agonda beach so called Brendy - phone switched off, sent a text - automatic reply asking for donations and giving an emergency number - switched off! So in desperation with a box full of very unwell puppies we attempted to take the puppies to the centre. Sadly this was not to be the case as as we approached the centre we we were turned away firstly by a lady coming out in the welfare van saying they were closed - if you want help you have to need it before 1pm evidently! another member of staff came out on his bike saying he was going for lunch and refused to take the puppies - since making enquiries locally it would appear that Brendy and her staff are not always willing to help and have refused calls for help in the past - being seen once a year on the beach with dog biscuits & fundraising. We took our very poorly almost dead puppies to the Animal Rescue Centre where they were immediately treated, wormed, bathed and homed. Please think twice about donating to places whose staff are able to be as cold and uncaring as the people we encountered obviously employed by Brendy. Very upsetting experience only saved by fantastic care provided by ARC who rely entirely on donations.

Hi Victoria, I have been in touch with brendy today regarding your post. First of all, I would like to point out that brendy was not there at the shelter, when you arrived as she had left at 12.30 to get Meds for kittens who had been abandoned earlier. Seconly, the lady In the van you had met was a volunteer. She is not employed by brendy! When asked about this incident, the lady volunteer had informed you that the shelter was closed. But had she been aware of the 7 abandoned babies she would have taken them from you . But you did not mention it to her. And she did not know it was an emergency! You didn't show her these puppies and so how was she to know? We have a mobile phone 7261984543 & like a lot networks, and especially where we are situated network comes and goes. That is why we have a facebook page, for leaving urgent messages and I did not receive one from you! We do not have an automated message on the asa phone, giving any other number? Or nothing about any automated message you claim to have heard or read even that we are asking for donations! There is an automated message on our asa Facebook page but you did not even contact us there. And we do not have a message there asking for donations either? We ask on our website page, which is relevant to a page on there regarding how to donate! Now as to making enquiries regarding brendy that she does not always help, then I have to make this clear we do not take in dogs for boarding or healthy dogs that are owned. We take in abandoned stray or sick and injured cats and dogs! She never has rejected even a squirrel or tiny bird or crow that could not fend for itself! We are proud of brendy, for all her good work in the community. She is a devoted caring woman who lives at the shelter 24/7 and is part of our charitable trust. She has a lunch break at 12.30 instead of that she went out first, for these Meds, leaving her volunteers to close the shelter. she never turns away injured, sick or abandoned babies. Look at all the puppies that we get adopted that were dunped.. read our fb pages for proof and truth! This is a grave misunderstanding, and I can see here, how things got mixed up. But please understand that we do all we can to help the animals. We are a genuine caring Ngo and you have judged us unfairly. Had you written to us, or even mentioned that this was an emergency to our volunteer none of this would have happened! However, we are happy to hear the puppies were treated and are now well and safe.

I have made five or six trips so far (and plan to go back before I leave) to the animal shelter during my month in Agonda, and each time I have left smiling. If you have time to volunteer, do. If you’re like me and are puppy sick for your pets back home, you can come here and get your fill of dog/cat and puppy love with the genuinely happy animals in Brandi’s care. The centre is clean and clearly very thoughtfully run, both as a rescue for injured and sick animals, but also as a veterinary clinic on Saturdays for the locals, their pets and sick and injured animals, also caring for the stray beach dogs during the monsoon season! An invaluable resource and worthwhile cause that deserves whatever you can give: be it donations, volunteering in the mornings or just giving the animals the cuddles and love. Bottom line: a fulfilling and wholesome way to spend an afternoon. Thank you ASA!

It is largely thanks to this shelter that the dog population in Agonda is under control. The work they do is AMAZING and the place itself delightful!

We visited the shelter and got a big surprise. Brendy's motto is that she wants people to leave with a good feeling not with sad ones. And that's exactly what the shelter achieves! The dogs and cats are so happy. They treat them perfect and you can feel, that they really love what they're doing!

They're goal is to educate people and even sterilize dogs and cats from local people for free.

They feed the beach dogs daily and care about a lot of animals around the shelter!

It's a beautiful sanctuary for animals!

Make sure to visit the shelter and don't forget to carry Wesley! He loved and deserves it 😍
