One of my dream was to visit this road. Is breathtaking.lucky us because there was snow and we had amazing view. After we saw Transfagarasan we went to see Transalpina and was better.

Breathtaking views! We didn't know what to expect besides the twisting and turning of the road. The views were spectacular! Its definitely a road like no other. It is dangerous if you are not paying attention. Just be on the look out for other cars...More

I'd rented a car for 6 days in Romania for self touring and drove the Transfagarasan Highway. Amazing! Beware of possible animal herds ! Sheep, cows and pigs - no kidding. Nice views along the way and plenty of places to pull off to safety...More

The highway is fantastic. We had a fantastic day. Recommend Grey Line (Mr Trip) for a quality tour. Almost the end of the season. The road closes in winter.

It is very worthwhile to reach this road, the views are spectacular, the twists are beautiful and special, the volcanic lake is special. The dam is just amazing. This is an experience and should be taken into account that it is a good few hours...More

Did the transfagarasan as part of a full day tour and glad we did, seems to take forever to go up then down but it also included many stops, even at the top with the first snows of the year. Although really busy, you can...More

Nice motorbike-ride and for sure with the Transalpina together the most exciting route in Romania. But honestly, there are at least 100 much more spectacular routes in Europe

This is a stunning drive right over the top of the Fagaras mountains, the central Carpathians. You arrive at the very top, which is more than 2000 metres above sea level. If you like lots of hairpin bends and incredible views, this is for you!...More

We drove this road on a damp, miserable day in September. It was still spectacular but also quiet. I imagine it could be really busy. The restaurant at the top was very busy. It’s a pity we were in fog at the very top as...More

The road is closed in part during the winter only when the snow is gone is it fully open so you should be good in June but remember no fuel stops in the 90KM length so fill up before you go. Enjoy the drive.

This road is absolutely worth to drive. Here is few sights on the road, like Poenari castle (to visit it you will spend about 2 hours), Vidraru dam is just a short stopover (30 min max), and after this you will reach the top... More

It is ok to drive from Sibiu to Pitesti but don't do it in the night because: 1) you lose a magnificent landscape 2) at the end of august it is possible to meet fog and even snow around the Balea lake 3) the are a lot of... More
