Museum is small but very interesting with various collections. Big surprise is archeology. We didn’t expect such reach findings in Tolmin. Les interesting is collection of objects from churches round Tolmin. Description of history is interesting for all generations as the ethnological presentation. Reserve two hours of your time for a smooth visit of all collections. Visit with an expert guide can be very helpful. Entrance fee is low and they can help to the handicapped.

Tolmin area was an important place dating back to early stone age, the roman era and its important transportation roads through the valley, to the more recent great peasants' revolt in 1713 and the Soča front of the WWI.
Some important names were present in the Soča Valley in the past, Erwin Rommel and Ernest Hemingway among them. As for the latest, reading of his book Farwell to the Arms would be greatly recommended.
We've visited the museum with our kids and it was very interesting to see their interest, listen to their comments and impression of the place. Possibly you would not consider visiting museums, but on a very rainy day, it could be an excellent idea. Even better visiting it at the start of your holidays to the Soča Valley, so you have a much better overview of the places you explore and visit during your stay.

The Tolmin museum is public institution which covers the areas of archaeology, ethnology, general history and history of arts of Slovenia's upper Soča Valley region. The Museum is located in the heart of Tolmin in the beautiful Coronini Mansion.

Experts from the museum prepared new exhibition about the time after the Second world war and about the new frontier between Italy and Yugoslavia. Exhibition is Interesting for an hour. You can also continue to the permanent collection in this local museum. Entrance is not expensive, they even offer some souvenirs.

It is interesting to know more about Soca valley while visiting it. The museum is the best place to get insight in the local history. Right in the center of town.

Very good museum. If you are interested in WW1 history, particular the 12 Isonzo battles, it's a place you have to go.

Good location in the middle of the town. You will find interesting collection of local art, local history and some very good archeological findings. Different collections are in different floors. People in museum are friendly. They can help you with some leaflets and books. You can go through all collections in an hour and a half.

The museum is interesting to visit. It has some digitally restored films to watch upstairs. During our visit they had an exhibition about shoe history (Shoes for everyday use).
