Easy route, not well signposted, sometimes you can find signs, other times just red ribbons hanging from branches or red brushstrokes on trees and rocks. Nearby there are necropolises and other smaller pyramids. I recommend leaving the car at the beginning of the town.

How to get to the Etruscan Pyramid. If you have a car, park it near the water tower at the end of Bomarzo, on the road to Viterbo. Then get the white road on the left of the water tower and go straight ahead for about 1 km and at the second cross, when the road becomes a trail, turn right. Then go on and turn right at the successive cross. So continue straight ahead, after a little walk you will find the (red and white) marked trail to the Pyramid and the grave of "Musetto" (it's just a horse, take it easy...)

We couldn't see any signage marking the location of the Etruscan Pyramid and we only found it as we had marked the GPS location on Google Maps before we set out. We were on bicycles and went down "Via Cupa" as far as we could on the bikes before locking them up and walking the remaining part.
The path is a little rugged and you need to be able bodied to get to the pyramid as there are some step downs on large rocks. We almost gave up trying to find the pyramid as it was a touch further than we thought. if you come from the top you just see a large moss covered stone at the GPS coordinates. This is the back of the pyramid so walk past and turn around!
You do get a feeling of accomplishment when you arrive at the pyramid. Just like an early explorer. An intriguing place. If you have the time, seek it out.

There is a tourist sign along the provincial road and then nothing more. We tried to follow him and got lost in a field. We went back and took the route recommended by Google Maps and once we abandoned the car here was another field. No indications, no signs even just on the stones like the marked paths.
Such a pity!

This is one of the haunting Etruscan sites one can visit 'nel Viterbese', the area north of Viterbo. This particular spot is special, not only because it is located close to the Bomarzo Monster Park - where one can roam through a fanciful Renaissance sculptured landscape -, but also because the walk along the dirt road leading there is sufficiently long to give one a sense of journeying many centuries back into time. It is a relatively remote spot, one of many hill side locations carved out by the Tiber, fascinating because unknown to and untouched by mass tourism.

The forest valleys around Bomarzo are filled with remnants of previous civilizations like the Romans and Etruscans. Nothing could be finer then hiking through those woods with a friend, a sack of bread and cheese and a bottle of locally produced wine, discovering ruins of rock animal shelters, Roman roads, ancient burial grounds and the pyramid.

The pyramid itself is very interesting. It would be great to know more what was the purpose of it. It is located in a totally isolated place 20 min walk from the town. Ok it is 20 min if you don't get lost. I got here (actually I am on the top of the pyramid now:) easily because I used the earth pocket application. But I think it would be much more adventurous if I didn't have my gps on. In any case prepare yourself how to get here otherwise you will never find it ;).

not an easy place to find but once we found the "pyramid" it was worth the effort.
we followed the red markings on the trees and stones but they soon petered out and we found ourselves lost in the forest!
by chance we saw an orange arrow sprayed on a tree that pointed uphill we followed this and luckily came across the pyramid.
a sight for sore eyes!
a truly amazing place .There are also other hidden tombs further up the track.
Now that we have been there we now know the route .
I would suggest parking at the water tower near Via Cupa. Head down Via Cupa with the olive groves on your right for about 10 mins. at the end of the olive trees there is some farm machinery turn right here.
follow the track past some properties on the left (mesh fences) eventually there is another track to the right .follow this.
the track curves left and you will eventually see a small tree sprayed silver! turn right here. you will come to a marked grave stone keep going , heading down a rocky slope with foot holes cut into the rock. soon you will find the pyramid. :-)

Well worth seeing. There's a definite step back in time feeling in this area. Near by is an amazing rock house too. Park at the water tower and walk down the left hand white road. After about 8 minutes there's a sign for a right turn so after this take the next right turn until you come to a widening in the road and a track to the left. Pass the grave for Mussetto (a horse) keep on path round and down to rock house then a few minutes further to the piramid. It's about half an hour in total from parking. We got lost and spent two and a half hours but the woods are beautiful and there's loads of paths.

We were wandering all the paths of the area and using our smartphones to locate… the hints to follow; tomb of Musetto (which was a horse who died in 2010 and buried there), then try to identify that bush before going a long way downhill, left right, left right, up down, up down, no signs, nothing… tried to follow all the instructions published through different reviews and sites but got lost ourselves… we were about to give up when we encountered a guy who knows the area and a lady who was looking this pyramid too and luckily he volunteered to take us there… in the meantime joined us another three more interested people.
Before coming here, study well the hints to arrive (maybe geolocate the routing too because is so easy to get lost), wear trekking shoes, carry water and be ready for an outdoor exploration adventure!
We were lucky (I have to say), a big THANKS to this guy who always jog in the area without him we couldn’t make it.

Salve, sapete dirmi da dove parte il sentiero per raggiungere la piramide? Vorrei andarci questo we? grazie mille, patrizia
