- Stay282621789271 contributionUnique and funMyself and partner took on the coal mine as we fancied something different. The room was completely dark and we couldn't see anything, the puzzles were fun, interactive and challenging but not too difficult. The game master was very friendly and did a great job of only giving clues when absolutely needed. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an escape room. Keep it up guysVisited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 3, 2024
- nickih232Nottingham, United Kingdom14 contributionsGreat for mixed age groupVisited with 3 year 6 boys & their mums! Games host was friendly and bubbly, and atmosphere was very relaxed! We did the magicians apprentice room which had a lot of components, so unfortunately didnt manage to coordinate our efforts sufficiently to escape - but was a great concept which challenged the mixed age group!Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 4, 2024
- Sarah T1 contributionFabulous for Families with Teens :)Wanted to do something different for my forty something birthday that the kids (13 and 16) would also enjoy. This was perfect! Booking online was easy and the free parking nearby (one minute walk) was extremely convenient. We were met by our gamemaster who explained the aim of the game, the game rules and gave us health and safety information before taking us to our room to complete a 'heist'. The puzzles in the room were thought provoking, plentiful and suitable for newbies and more experienced gamers. We all loved it and managed to escape (only just) with a good amount of money (not real of course!) The photo with props at the end was a lovely touch too! Overall, a fantastic experience for our whole family. Friendly staff, plenty of games to choose from and easily accessible. We can highly recommend :)Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 5, 2024
- Angela C2 contributionsGreat experience, will be back soon to take on another room!I’ve done a few escape rooms and this has been by far the best! The games master had a loverly personality very warm and inviting. The game was really well structured and a good variety of puzzles to complete, with the games master giving clues at the perfect time. Even though we were beaten by the room cant wait to come back and be challenged in another one of Coalville rooms.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 28, 2024

It is a very unique experience and would highly recommend. - Lindsey H6 contributionsGreat timeI took my son and his friend to the kids Axe Throwing. After some difficulty finding the building - which a kind lady told us happens all the time and showed us to correct building, my son and his friend loved it. The instructor was good fun, helping the boys with technique for throwing and stance. They got to throw axes and a kinda disc. The boys loved the competitions against each other. They even enjoyed writing their name on the wall at the end. On leaving they were asking straight away when they could come back and do it again.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 16, 2024
- Amelia J1 contributionAmazing day!I came with my friend for her birthday with another one of her friends and her mum and we had a great time solving puzzles, the guy who was looking after us was very nice and listened to our demands to get a new pen when one ran out and showed amazing dedication by checking the whole building for one. He was very patient with us and gave very fun and not quite straight forward hints so we still felt like we did a lot of the work ourselves. Definitely want to come back and not just to write on the wall, loved all of it :)Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 1, 2024

- Sian J5 contributionsAxe throwing funWe really enjoyed our first experience of axe throwing. We were warmly welcomed. My son was reluctant to axe throw, but was encouraged to join in with the children's option. This enabled him to practice and become more confident. After a short time he was proudly showing his abilities and loved the gong when he got it in the centre or completed his challenge. Adapting in this way for a reluctant person meant that we all had a great time.Visited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 24, 2024

I cannot recommend this place enough. It was booked as a fun way to try and build some cohesion between our children who always seem to oppose each other. The plan was to encourage some team work between them and to highlight the fact that we all possess different qualities. After our briefing with the staff we remained quite confused, but with some gentle nudges and clues we found our rhythm and started to solve the case. Such great fun and perfect for children and adults. Even our 4 year old son got involved with some of the clues. Highly recommended and a 5+ star rating from all of us. Will for sure be visiting again and attempting some of the different rooms they hold. Thank you Escape rooms coalville for such a brilliant experience from the booking to the briefing to finishing the room just in time. Brilliant customer service and great fun !!!

We had a fantastic time at Escape Coalville yesterday trying to solve the JM's office murder case. Although we didn't manage to crack the case on time, we absolutely loved the experience. The room's decoration was spot-on, creating the perfect atmosphere, and the puzzles were cleverly designed, providing both challenge and fun. Although we were six players we felt that everyone had a chance to actively participate.
Our host was brilliant! He offered hints to keep us on track while allowing us enough space to solve the game ourselves. He was very friendly and welcoming which added to the overall positive experience.
We will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

We came to Escape Coalville as a large group for a team builder activity with our workplace. There were 16 of us and we therefore had access to 4 escape rooms that ran at the same time. The staff were helpful throughout the booking process and were great on the night. We couldn't fault them and really appreciated the little touches of the awards for quickest team and best overall player (which stepped up the competition!). Thank you for a fab evening!

We did the Magician escape room as a group of 3 and unfortunately we all came out feeling rather flat and disappointed. We did manage to escape and to be fair, we were a bit out of practice and one of our team hadn’t done many but overall it didn’t operate smoothly. One of the puzzles wasn’t working when we arrived, there was a technical hitch with the sound at the beginning and at one point the games master had to come into the room to open a door for us. Many of the puzzles were shabby, tatty or even broken and in need of repair. The games master was friendly and helpful and gave us plenty of clues as needed but for £60 I think it should have been better. I think we should have been offered a partial refund but sadly we weren’t.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you left feeling disappointed but, having been present for your game today, I thought I'd give some context to the two star review you've left for us. I must say I'm a little surprised by such a negative review, especially as you thanked us and told us you'd "enjoyed the game" as you left.
I was aware that there was a slight technical hitch with the audio at the start of your game. This is something I know the Gamesmaster rectified immediately. This issue in no way hampered your progress in the game and you were able to continue without any interruption to your puzzle solving.
Your review states that the puzzles in the room were shabby and tatty. With the game set backstage of an old theatre, I think you'd have to agree that we've done a good job in making the setting seem authentic. It seems that the atmosphere we were trying to create was a successful as we hoped.
Your review also states that the Gamesmaster had to enter the room in order to "open a door for us". Having been observing your game at this point, I know that the Gamesmaster had already offered three clues on this. The puzzle you were working on at the time wasn't broken or in need of repair as you'd already solved it. The issue was that the door that had been unlocked simply needed pushing open. We placed a large "push" sign in order to help players realise but despite being told on three occasions to push open the door, the Gamemaster had no choice but to come into the room to help out. He felt, quite rightly, that this intervention was necessary so that you could continue to play the game. If he hadn't done this, you would have failed the game, something that we always endeavour to prevent.
In your review you have stated you felt that you should have received a partial refund. Having told us that you enjoyed the game and had not mentioned at the time that there were an issues, there was no need to offer any refund. There was nothing in the game that hampered your playing experience. If you'd like to get in touch to discuss this further, we'd be more than happy to discuss it with you at more length.

Owning an iteration of the first ever escape room and a new concept for very different, this venue haha be us a really enjoyable day out.
The owner (Adam) was extremely friendly and welcoming whilst adding humour throughout.
The attention to detail was great and if you get the chance to play “the coal mine” DO IT! It’s something you won’t have *seen* before ;-)

My wife and I were lucky enough to be invited to this place to test 2 of the escape games before they reopen to the public once current restrictions allow. We were invited as we were pretty much complete novices having only done one room together before.
We were greeted upon arrival and the 2 games we were doing were fully explained to us. Contrary to popular belief, they do stress that you are not actually locked into the rooms at any point and can leave.
Now I would like to tell you what games we did but I don’t want to give anything away other than their titles, so as to not spoil the fun.
The first game was actually a box called “The lost dinosaur” and it’s suitable for children and adults and I think would be ideal for a family to play as their first room. Even though it was aimed at younger players it’s still was a lot of fun for us and was still really engaging!
The second game was JM’s Office. Using the clues you have to solve a murder. This is what I imagined an escape room is like for those that want a real challenge. Without giving anything away all I’ll say is we made it out in the last minute and I felt like the game aged me as i found it really challenging (in an enjoyable way)
I would recommend that if you visit that you play two games. We found that the first game was a good warm up to the second.
I really enjoyed myself and can’t wait to see what games/rooms they have next.

My daughter wanted to do an escape room for her 12th birthday, so she did it with 5 of her friends, all age 11-12. They didn't complete it but they had a great time, would definitely recommend for secondary age children & adults. My daughter's group did the JM's office one. They all came out wanting to do another one! The 2 gamemasters are lovely, and very good with the girls, even though they had to put up with an awful lot of screeching from them!

What a fantastic way to spend a grey bank holiday Monday with family & friends!
My husband, myself and our 16 year old daughter teamed up with our good friends, Kate (plus May her Canine Partner assistance dog) & her husband Stuart to form Team KNEKS.
After 57m 55s and much head scratching, finger counting, floor crawling, we finally escaped from the room having solved all of the clues to help JM prove his innocence.
The whole set up is excellently thought out and additional clues are available from "outside" if needed - which they were on a few occasions especially when it came to adding up!
It was a great way to spend an hour and we would definitely do it again - the return of Team KNEKS + May The Detective Dog!!

This was an exceptional experience, thrilling and certainly challenging. It was a Brilliant evening to spend with colleagues, but is ideal for friends and family too. A great way to bond and have a great laugh whilst also challenging yourself. We cracked it with 26 seconds spare, just like out of a Bond movie!
Fully recommend this venue, easy to get to, lots of close parking and other places to have a drink or eat before going in. Ideal to do as part of a party, special event celebration or just a great night out with family and friends.
I look forward to going again in the future 5* fun.
