Wonderful experience
Oct 2020 • Family
We had a fantastic experience visiting Cantina Ratti.
Our host Julia gave us the best explanation about Barolo wines that we had in our trip in Piemonte. Her knowledge and passion are remarkable.
The wines are wonderful. Tradition and quality. Strongly recommended.

A wonderful wine experience
Sep 2020 • Couples
My husband and I had a wonderful visit and wine tasting experience today. The place is beautiful, great architecture and very well prepared to receive visitors. The tour starts at a room where you can see an exposition of old cork openers, several historical bottles of Ratti and other Barolo producers, then you watch a nicely animated movie of the history of Barolo and of Ratti’s wine production. After that you are walked through the wine cellars where you see the fermentation process and the wine barrels underground where they keep the Barolo, Nebbiolo and all the other great wines they produce. After the tour we were walked into a tasting area where we had the opportunity to fast their Sauvignon, two Nebbiolos from different regions and finally a flight of Barolos from different years, so you can compare how they evolve over time. The whole tour was guided by Tricia and she was amazing! Very friendly, funny and knowledgeable about the winery and the region, she made our experience even better and was able to answer all the many questions we had. We left the tour full of knowledge and stories to tell, thanks to out new friend, Tricia.

Amazing location but expensive tour lacking content
Aug 2019
The location of the tasting room here is fantastic with an incredible view, somewhat akin to the lair of a good Bond villain, sadly that's the best thing about it. Extremely expensive for what it is, and whilst the guide appeared to know plenty, she wasn't keen on passing that knowledge on. At 10 euro this would be fine, but at 25 euro it's not really ok. Save your money and drive on.

Tasting, and nothing more
Jul 2019 • Family
We drove by to ask if we could taste some wine, although we didn't have an appointment. You can taste the lower quality wine for free, but I was interested in their top three Barolos which they charge 20 euro for.

I'm glad they gave me a tasting, but when just coming from a fantastic tasting at a smaller winery (Borgogno Francesco), this was night and day. The tasting at Renato Ratti was a small amount of each wine, and nothing else. No bread or even water, even though this was supposed to be a tasting of the very top wines at 3x the price of the previous winery. To top things off the guide hardly said anything about the wines, nothing about the winery itself and just seemed bored. It is better to say no to customers if you have no interest in good service, rather than a half hearted tasting. I have tried all the wines before and even own several bottles of Conca and Marcenasco, so I know they are good.

I was looking forward to experiencing the winery now that I was visiting Barolo, but alas, there was no soul there today.

Great wines. Great place
Jul 2016 • Friends
I highly recommend this winery if you are in the Piemonte Wine Region in Italy. The wine is amazing and the tasting room is beautiful. The tour is casual. We tasted about 5 wines and I wanted to buy all of them to take home. The view from the winery is breathtaking with a view of the entire valley. La Morra is a great area for dining and the view from La Morra is also incredible. I've never seen anything like it.

Great for wine tasting but no visit
The wines are really great. The room where actually the wine tasting happens has a fantastic view. To appreciate a good wine worth the visit. If you are looking for winery visit, there is not the place.

Not much to it
Oct 2013 • Friends
The tour we went for was for free so perhaps expectations should be adjusted. Yet it did not include much. We were served generous portions of wine to taste along with some bits of knowledge. And that was it. It started late, the host was preoccupied and disorganised, and there was no bread or cheese as an accompaniment. A little bit of a tour would have been nice. In fact they could charge a bit but make it more of an experience.

Bureaucratic but it's worth it because of the wine
Dec 2012 • Couples
Renato Ratti's cantina wines are fantastic barolos that you should taste either in their winery or buying from a negociant around Alba region. Although their tasting is free, there are few information provided regarding their wine and it was pretty bureaucratic. Maybe it was a bad day but I would definitely recommend you to take a good look around La Morra for other producers if you want to get more technical details about the Barolos.

Excellent tour

They make wonderful traditional wines in a modern facility. Email or complete the form on the website for an appointment.

The tour takes about 90 minutes, followed by a tasting of their current release wines. If you want wine for your room or to take home, buy it at the cantina since the prices are very reasonable.
