I do not believe in God, I am not a religious person. In fact, I detest religions in general, because I consider them absurd. But this is a place you should see. I went with my family, with my parents, and it is an amazing place ... the highlights and the scenery all combined with the architecture of the place leaves you mesmerized. And the best: All made of salt. Natural salt, direct from the rock. Religion aside, it seems like a great place full of colors. It must be borne in mind that being a salt mine, traveling through it demands an overwhelming amount of energy and consequently physical effort. I would not recommend it for people with mobility disabilities (wheelchairs or crutches) and claustrophobic people ... Those who suffer from blood pressure or other conditions such as asthma, which do not allow them the optimal enhancement of great physical efforts.

Catedral de Sal de Zipaquirá, was built (and rebuilt) in a salt mine, over 600 feet below a halite mountain, at Zipaquirá Cundinamarca outside Bogotá. Since the 5th century BC, the indigenous Muisca people were mining salt near present-day Zipaquirá. It was the primary contributor to their wealth and influence. In 1932, the miners constructed a chapel to their patron saint, Our Lady of the Rosary. A larger church was constructed beginning in 1952, but was closed 40 years later for safety concerns. The present larger church was constructed in the 1990's. The underground structure is gigantic and the huge and dramatic stations of the cross are carved from the rock in place in the mine. This is worth seeing for its structural aspects alone, but for those spiritually interested it will be a moving event. Even Pope Francis payed a visit in 2017. Go see the Salt Cathedral. There's simply nothing else quite like it.

I went with my family in September of the last year. I bought my ticket in internet because is easier and I can skip the line and enter at once. before you went to the entrance of the mine the personal going to offer a tour to tell us the history of place, and it’s a very nice tour but if you go with your friends or your coupler I didn’t recommended. when you going to enter to the mine the personal gives your personal protective equipment. my experience in the mine was a nice experience, the travel is good and you should lick a wall, any wall why? because its made with salt, when you arrived to the last stage of the travel you can bought salt souvenirs, in the same stage was ubicated 'el viaje del minero' and you have to made that activity, was so funny and show you how it’s the life of a miner.

This is a cathedral ina salt mine. There is audio guide provided which will bring you through all the stages (14) of the crosses which basically depicted the cruxification of Jesus. You will need at least 1.5 hour to go through everything at a more leisurely pace. Highly recommended.
