This was once the summer retreat of Tipu Sultan. It’s a good place for hiking and birding. The hill also has temples dating back to the Chola period. It gets extremely crowded on weekends. The hills offer great views of the surroundings, though.

A good place for a road trip, one would enjoy the view along the way to the top of the hill, best time to visit is early morning or late in the evening, sunrise and sunset are awesome. During winter season you are literally standing among the clouds you can feel the chill as they pass by. Food is available... More

1. I would call it like the 'Bhairav' darshan while you visit Vaishno Devi in J&K. They say your devotion remains incomplete without Bhairav darshan after Mata Rani darshan. 2. Same is the case for Nandi Hills. Your Bangalore visit remains completely 'incomplete' without this one. 3. Best time, start on a saturday/sunday early morning at 3AM from your hotel/house.... More

This place is a must visit if you are in or near Bangalore, especially if it is the winter season. I have been here thrice and still not bored of the place and feel that it has a different kind of beauty in every season! They charge Rs. 100 for a car of 4 people (pretty nominal). If you go... This time during my trip to Bangalore during Durga pujas, we went on a road trip to the famous Nandi hills. Nandi hills, believed to be one of the beautiful getaway places near Bangalore. It is an ancient hill fortress approximately 60 - 65 kms from Kanakpura Road. You can reach there in approximately 2 hours. With the help of Google... More

It is a wonderful place to escape from the mall life of bangalore. The roads are well maintained making the ride from bangalore a hassle free trip. Spectacular, extravagant view and heavenly experience watching the clouds and sun go in and come out in the morning. We started at 5:15 am from Bangalore and reached by 6:30... Stayed there for... Nandi Hills is a place close to Bangalore where many locals and tourists come to witness spectacular sunrises. So it gets very crowded and you have to get in early if you want to reach the top on time to catch a glimpse of the sunrise. The gate opens at 5:30pm, but it is recommended to be there much before... After drive of 1.1/2 hours form Bangalore, mostly on the express highway, we reached the area of the Nandi Hills. I really wasn't expecting to be ascending in a taxi to a level of approximately 4800 meters, through a series of at least 43 curves as it snaked its way up the side of the hill. I didn't feel the...
