This was a really disappointing experience and I left feeling quite upset and uncomfortable. The museum offers a guided tour (4000 dram for two people with entry included) but I only had a 20,000 dram note or 3500 dram in change. They couldn’t change the note (this is one of very few tourist attractions in Gyumri so you’d think they would keep some change) and wouldn’t accept the 3500 so, no tour and we were the only people there so it’s not like they were busy. Then, someone followed us all around the museum turning all of the lights behind us as we went. There was no need for us to be followed- everything was in glass cases so it’s not like we could have damaged anything and the person following us didn’t speak English so our experience was evidently not going to be enhanced by this. When we left a member of staff (not wearing a mask) followed us off the premises. If these people are looking to get more people into the museum, they are going the wrong way about it.

On the museum itself, there isn’t much information about anything in either Armenian, Russian or English. It’s very much a dusty objects in glass cases kind of place, which fail to bring Old Gyumri to life. This could really be improved with some interactive exhibits, a “spot the x” worksheet for kids or something...

There's little of great interest in Gyumri, so inevitably your guide is looking for things to do - and that's how you end up in this museum.
Small museum with 2 sections : one showing daily utensils and crafts, the other one showing how the rich people lived.
To me, it felt like walking through a series of antique stores.

Museum of National Architecture and Urban Life is an amazing story. Also has the old gyumri may and structure. I found interesting to look for my Grandmother's place: The Aghabalov brother houses near the "peppelan" church area. Also the house is very tipical for rich Gyumrezi. This is a Must visit place.

One of those places that everyone will find something fascinating. Children and grownups will enjoy it equally (we did). It was very interesting to see how the town looked like and functioned over 100 years ago.
We arrived to Gyumri late, came directly to this museum, it was just 10 minutes before the closing time. The staff was very nice, they stayed (a large number of them) overtime so that we will have a tour (and we were just a group of 6 people). The guide was excellent (not only didn't show that she is annoyed with our time choice, but she was herself taking time to explain everything in detail was sure we got answers to as many questions as we would have) and was very enthusiastic. And there is a lot to see.

More or less like every museum of local history.

Entry is 1'000 AMD. Not much information in English but you don't need it because everything is very well presented.

The building itself, now a house-museum, is well-preserved and exhibits traditional trade and crafts with artefacts and displays focused on early urban life in Gyumri.

Exceptional displays including woodworking, embroidery, tinwork, silversmithing are well-presented.

An hour or so is a sufficient time to visit.

This museum doesn't have any treasures, but gives perfect impression of the not very long history of Gyumri - and the urban life of the early 20th century.

Interesting architecture including a lovely wooden balcony; the displays cover the various industries that brought prosperity to Gyumri in the 19th century (printing, foundries, various crafts, etc.). There's a beautiful scale model of the city so you can see what it looked like before the 1988 earthquake. Also the living quarters of a bourgeois family.

This is a very well designed and interesting museum which offers insight into Gyumri's past. The museum's tour guide spoke fluent English and made history come alive! Thank you!
