Make a point of visiting this site. Incredible and thought provoking at the same time. I would return at any time.

Just outside the city limits of Alaverdi. It's a magic complex monastery surrounded by trees and a cemetery with great views over the valley

These monasterys are very special and world heritage listed. Wonderful inside and out. The light streaming through the windows into the interior is spectacular for photos. Such an old building but preserved wonderfully well. Must see.

Well worth a visit as this monastery is in great position above the spectacular Debed Gorge. We had an excellent free, English speaking guide and there was not even an entrance fee. A fascinating and long history was all explained so clearly and illustrated by...More

Atmospheric 1000 year old monastery to explore. Terrific setting and very peaceful surrounds. We walked there from Alaverdi and then on towards Haghpat, strenuous, but rewarding walk. What a marvellous area to explore.

I applied one day tour to Armenia via Envoy tours to visit here. No information or expectation for the monasteries. But once getting into the complex, the beautiful scene rushed into my eyes. There were few people around, no noise. Just sit on the bench...More

I loved these old monasteries. Amazing that they are about a 1000 years old. You can see why they are classified with UNESCO as world heritage sites. Also such an amazing view of the countryside from here.

These monasteries which are classified as a World Heritage Site were built in the 10th-13th centuries. They are a testament to Armenia's rich and ancient spiritual history and are well worth a visit.

Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries were built in the 10 century and are part of an unesco world heritage site. Certainly they belong to the most elaborated Armenian monasteries. I personally liked Haghpat a bit more for its atmosphere. Go there at sun set, nobody there...More
