Nothing great or grand about the waterfall. We stayed in Quba previous night and went there on whim.
From Macara village hotel we drove to the foot of the hill on a rented car. You approach the foot of the hill through a scenic gorge. Once we reached the foot of the hill and took a zeep taxi for the uphill journey towards the waterfall. It is advisable to took local taxi with high surface clearance as the upward journey is sinuous and road is not of good condition. Taxi will charge 15-20 Mannat and taxi driver is well aware of the route. Total journey time should not be more than 15 mins one way.
We could go up only half the distance and even our local experienced driver could not proceed further. The path is muddy slippery and wet due to rain on previous day.
We went upto the waterfall on foot but
dissapointed with the waterfall. There is nothing much to talk about.
On the brighter side, the uphill journey is very scenic and worth the trouble even with not so good waterfall. You also get a glimpse of rural life of Azerbaijan. Few word of caution though:
1. Don't go down upto the water body created by waterfall. It is life threateningly risky as large chunk of Stone falls regularly and we were witnessed to such thing incident with other group. Enjoy the view from a safe distance and from safe place
2. You need high road clearance vehicle with good conditioned tyre and heavy duty engine. Safe to take local zeep taxi for 15-20 Mannat.
3. If you plan to trek, ensure you have good trek shoe with good grip. If it rains, road geta slippery, wet and sticky.

We were there today. The location is nice and the route is beautiful. However, the water was very less in the falls. Many of the nearby areas were closed for winter, suggest visiting in summer.

Not worth to travel from Baku to see only waterfall. but way to waterfall is stunning. Eye catching scenes. Waterfall is small. There is restaurant and wash room facilities available. When you on the way to Afruca waterfall half way thru you will see horse ride and Gachrash forest. Must visit place if you are planning to stay in Azerbaijan more than 2days.

If you are travelling all the way especially to check out the Afrudja waterfalls is not worth it at all. It’s a long long ( almost 3-3.5 hours ) drive . It’s hardly a waterfall if you categorise it . Though the travel to the water falls is very very scenic and you get an insight into the rural life of the Azeri people .

It took over 3 hours to get here from Baku & simply wasn’t worth the effort in itself. The Lada 4x4 up the mountain was good & we saw some interesting views of Azerbaijan life outside Baku but I wouldn’t go back
