STUNNING
Jan 2020 • Solo
I cycled up so I saw a fair bit through sunny patches. Regrettably view at top was socked in. This is a good drive on the highway 32 but there are better treks on the mu can chai side

Highest scenic pass in Mu Cang Cai
Oct 2018 • Solo
The longest and highest pass on Quoc Lo 32 (QL32). Estimate 4 hours from Yen Bai after Nghia Lo and another one small street town of Tu Le. The peak is about 20km from here at around 1500m above sea level. The climb starts gradually to the peak from Tu Le. If coming from Mu Cang Cai city is about 33km and is all the way climbing to the peak. There are a few stunning viewpoints before the peak. From this viewing point you can have the magnificent landscape of Lim Mong Valley below. The best viewpoint is before the paragliding jump off point about 200m from south (at the house by the road). Here you can have the majestic view of Lim Mong Valley rice fields. To come here you have to arrange own transport as it is difficult to get public transport to and fro, hence arrange own transport by rental motorbike from MCC or the guesthouse that you stayed will be a better choice or get a guide with a motorbike to take you around.

Scenic Pass on Route QL32, Vietnam
Sep 2017 • Solo
Along Quoc Lo 32 (QL32) four hours from Yen Bai after passing through Nghia Lo and another one small street town of Tu Le between Van Chan and Mu Cang Cai District. About 13km from here on the right before the peak at around 1500m above sea level. There is a magnificent landscape of Lim Mong Valley on the right as you ascend to the peak. It is said to be the longest pass 930km) on QL32. Some local community has took advantage of this awesome landscape and built some viewing tower at the edge of the mountain. Just make a small contribution and you can use the facilities especially for photographing where you will have a birds eye view of the whole valley. It is one of best viewpoint along QL 32 if you did not stay in La Pan Tan or Mu Cang Cai. Many tourist will conquer the pass in this district during the harvesting season from September to October when the rice terraces at it prime of golden colour each year. There is a monument at the peak, a memorial monument for the Khau Pha guerrillas nicknamed the “cloud warriors” during the revolutionary with French troops. The pass always has thick clouds due to the terrain and is encourage to travel this road in daylight as it has steep mountain drop and certain section has land slide and erosion. I understand most of the many erosion along this stretch of QL32 just occur in the in the July and August this year. It has deteriorated since I use this route in 2015. However restoration is still going on and is passable.
