I thought this was a free tunnel, but after forking over the $3 it was worth every penny. A light is recommended and a light is a little helpful, there are parts where the hung lights don't reach. Highly recommended after visiting El Chato

The lava tunnels were pretty interesting. Much to our surprise we came across a young tortoise on the trail down into the lava tubes,,,, hopefully it turned around!!!!
