Since we based out of Luttach we decided to try this hike first. With the help of a map picked up at the Tourist info office, this was an easy trail to find (in fact all trails were easy to find with the map). We walked from the hotel (Hotel Stifter) to the trail head which was across the street from the town fire station. The trail was well marked and quickly entered a forest with wooden works of art at various stations on the way. The trail then started to climb getting steeper the deeper we entered the forest. Every once in awhile there were breaks in the trees that offered wonderful views of the valley. After crossing a wooden bridge You start the steepest portions, you also come to a fork. The left is the trail, the right takes you to the base of the falls and its pool. I imagine on a hot day it would be a great place to cool off, being in the shade and exposed to the cooling mists from the falling stream. Our day was grey and wet. The trail climbs via several switchbacks til it takes you to another bridge in a very pleasant location. From here you start the downward trek through the forest back to the trail head. Due to numerous Kid stops (ooh looks at this flower... look at that butterfly!!!) It took us 2 hours to complete. If you go on a hot day I recommend you do the complete loop then back track to the pool to cool off.
