There are several (small) lifts that brings you up until the delightfull "Hochmoosalm".
The ski-area is very little and perfect for beginners. On the top you have a nice vieuw on Leutasch. You can make wonderfull walks from the top are the valley of Leutasch.
Don't forget to make a stop on the top of Hochmoos where you can sip on a drink or food while you watch the skiers passing by.

The whole Leutasch valley is fantastic for Winter Walking. Skigebiet Hochmoos is one of the best destinations of these walks.

The walks we did were:

1. To Hochmoos Alm: Route:-- Interalpen Hotel - Wildmoos on Path 3, then Path 49 up to Hochmoos Alm at the top of the skilift, then down the toboggan run on Path 34, then across to Kirchplatzl on Path 42 (8 miles: a really great walk: Ferienheim Wildmoos is a nice quiet stop for coffee (closed Tuesdays); Wildmoosalm is much more "buzzy", but serves good food we heard (closed Mondays); Hochmoosalm has STUNNING views in every direction.

2. Interalpen Hotel - Weidachsee - Kirchplatzl on Path 3 (6 miles: nearly all downhill; some nice views up the Gaistal valley; Muggenmoosalm would have been a great coffee stop, but is closed Tuesdays)

3. Salzbach carpark - up Gaistal Valley to Gaistalalm - Kirchplatzl via the Unterer Weisenweg (8 Miles: Gaistal is a really unspoilt valley, and it's worth getting the first Dorfbus (which is free!) to the start of the trail at Salzbach, so you can enjoy it in peace; the Gaistalalm hutte has a great location)

4. Dorfbus to Burgraben (at end of Leutasch Valley), then walk down eastern side of valley to Reindlau (great coffee, nice terrace at hotel), then stay on west side of valley to Lehner, cross over to east side again (next to river) & back to Kirchplatzl (7 miles; stunning views all the way, and almost completely flat).

5. Buchen-hohe (bus stop before Interalpen Hotel) on Path 27, then path 2 to Mosern (the first hotel-restaurant as you arrive in Mosern has terrace with great views), then Path 60 to Wildmoos, then Path 3 down the Fludertal Valley (very pretty meadows) to Kreith; bus back to Kirchplatzl (8 miles; dramatic views over Inn valley, then good glimpses of Mountains around Seefeld)

6. Kirchplatzl - Rauthutte via Oberer Weisenweg and Path 8; return via Path 3 to Kirchplatzl (7 miles: lovely quiet forest walk on Path 8, then panoramic views of Gaistal, Leutasch Valley & Inn Valley from hutte. Make sure Path 8 has been cleared though - it wasn't when I did it, so it was hard going!)

7. Kirchplatzl - Plaik on Oberer Weisenweg & return via Unterer Weisenweg (3 miles: this short walk has probably the best views in the whole valley - don't miss it!)

There are 2 great bus services in the Leutasch Valley: the free Dorfbus (which we used for the Gaistal and Burgraben walks) and the Postbus (no. 430) which is particularly useful for taking you up to the Interalpen Hotel (a very good starting point for the whole Hochmoos Plateau)

We stayed at the excellent Sporthotel Xander in Kirchplatzl, which is an ideal centre for starting/finishing all the area's walks.

Leutasch skiarea is good for families but not for the crack. A chairlift brings you to the top where you find a good place for drins or a bite. Not overly large.
