Went there for years to get the mountain cheese (Gruyere type). Cheese is excellent and very consistent.
If you can (though one) keep the cheese vacuum packed, refrigerated and eat after 1-2 years. Cheese tastes absolutely sublime.
Kaminwurzen (local salami type sausage) are delicious and should be on the shopping list as well.

take kids there to see how cheese is done, have lunch, buy cheese and many other natural produtcs, includic cosmetics. you will not find a place like this, in the same building, every area is well separate like to visit different places. everything is perfectly organized and tidy.
have lunch but book in advance, at least in weekend days. they offer a selection of cheeses, ham and fantastic bread. if possible, taste the cheese soup.

If you arrive early (10am), then you will most probably see the filling up of the forms as we did. However they offer a short movie on how these excellent cheeses is produced and you have the chance to try and to buy your favorites. One definitely leaves with a cheese. :-)

We could watch a movie from 10 minutes and look through a window at tray of cheeses. Not worth the ride.

Excellent local cheese and ambience

We visited the Schaukäserei with friends to taste local delicacies. The cheeses are great and unique. We took a table on the terrace with some wine and cheese. Truly a super afternoon.
A must to visit.

Delicious cheese .very helpful and kindly staff.very beautiful landscape. You can watch short movie how they prepare everything... unfortunately in German I hope in future when we visit again this beautiful place it will be available in English .I recommend it for all who are discover new tasty cheese.
