We were fortunate (or unfortunate) to time our visit to the Hermitage on the one day of the month when entry was free. I don't know what it would have been like otherwise but we ended up queuing to get in for FOUR hours. Once...More

Don't miss this grand structure. Home to one of the largest museums in the world and houses many famous works of art. See works by Rafel, El Greco, and Michelangelo among many others.

Huge does not really describe this place. Perhaps "ginormous" would be better. There is no way to see the Heritage in one day. The art along is one day! The only down side is the crowds. There were people everywhere and they were mostly interested...More

We were a party of 4 with out own guide. It was busy and you do have to keep moving. There is not a great deal of time to stand and stare. However having your own guide and bring in a small party seemed preferable...More

We were told that if you stood in front of each treasure for just one minute; it would take 5 years working 8 hours a day to see every item in this vast collection. In three hours, we were shown the major items and it...More

The Hermitage Pavilion is a mini palace that is built in the same style as the Catherine Place. It seems more friendly because of its dimensions, more cosy. Tsars used to celebrate private parties there !
