We were very surprised by how good this was as you can not tell from the road. We really enjoyed the temple and the mosaics of the aquatic deity. Mosaics were in good state of preservation. There is also a small museum with more information...More

The remains of the villa are detailed in a presentation in the entrance building. The history details the villa as it was built and clarifies th remains that are visible now. The mosaics are really detailed and the preservation is unusually good. The parts of...More

Great stop for a quick look into Roman Life in a villa. Property has some great preserved areas. It was two euros to get in.

Combined this with a visit to The Pousada de Estoi palace hotel. There is a small museum at the entrance, which explains the context, then it's free entry to explore the villa remains, along with the mosaics and other remnants. The mosaics offer an insight...More

Not a very big site but will give you an idea of ancient roman living. Unfortunately lacks a bit of information so as to help non experts understand exactly what you are looking at. Even so had a great day and the children loved it.

The ruins cover such a vast area, you can imagine that they are of an entire town, but No! - they are the ruins of a single Roman villa! But some villa - complete with its own temple, reception rroms, pool, bathing chambers, changing and...More

Huge villa complex. One of the best Roman villa sites as such a lot of the foundations remain. Lots of mosaics too. A small museum is attached, but it doesn't have much of interest. The original Roman busts are in other museums, mostly in Faro....More

Of good level of detail for all. The ruins are the archeological dig remains, that have been left exposed to the elements. Mosaics are abundant, but very much damaged. There is an interpretation of what part of the site would have looked like, in a...More
