A personal 2 day tour spanning 3 days began at our hotel in Hue at midday and ended in on day 3 in Hoi An. Our guide in Hue was Mr Lay. We toured the Imperial City which was excellent before going to tour Thien Mu Pagoda & Temple where we were treated with a local takeaway dish of a beautiful tasting stuffed dumpling (I wish I'd paid more attention and learned the name of this food) , followed by a visit to Thủy Bằng where we visited the royal Khai Dinh Tomb. Going great, can it get any better? Oh yes. Day 2 a tour of the DMZ. We took in many sights and locations amongst which was Hamburger Hill, Khe Sanh air base (followed by a great lunch of Mì Quảng Gia), the old north/south boarder crossing at Hien Luong Bridge where we visited the museum before going on to the Vinh Moc Tunnels which were a real experience. There were many other sights too numerous to mention. Then a very pleasant drive back to Hue. Day 3 started with being picked up at the hotel by Mr Vu and taking a ride to Hoi An via the Hai Van Pass to Da Nang. Journey filled with fantastic sights & photo opportunities before arriving in Da Nang where we had an even better lunch than the day before. From here we went on to Hoi An where our tour ended. I can honestly say that, despite being rather brief in my description, the tour was worth every penny and moment spent on it. Mr Vu was a very knowledgeable guide who was very personable and great company. Would I recommend a tour from Annam & Mr Vu. You bet I would.

Mr Vu is an excellent guide with deep knowledge of the area and the history of the Vietnam War. We had a fascinating day, with the highlight being Khe San and the tunnels on the coast. We would recommend Mr Vu to anyone interested in a battlefield tour of the former DMZ. It is also a great opportunity to take a journey through rural Vietnam.

My father was a Marine in the Vietnam war and my boyfriend and I wanted to plan a trip back with him. My first order of business was to find a great tour guide that could show us some of the significant war locations around the country including the places my father was stationed. I knew I wanted to book a tour with Mr. Vu as soon as I read all of his positive reviews, and I am so so glad I did! I can’t express how much my father enjoyed our 2 day battlefield tour and how much it meant to him personally. We asked hundreds of questions over the course of 2 days and Mr. Vu knew the answer to ALL of them. He was not only extremely knowledgeable but also a personable and funny guy to spend 2 days with. He had hundreds of historical photos to go with the sites we were visiting, and knew small interesting details about each one. He helped us interact with the locals, learn about Vietnamese life, and gain a whole new perspective on this beautiful country. When our tour was over, my father talked for hours (not an exaggeration- hours!) about how much he enjoyed it and how he can’t wait to tell all his veteran friends about this wonderful experience. I can’t recommend Mr. Vu enough, and I can’t say enough great things about him and the experience of this tour. I know this is something my father will remember for the rest of his life. Thank you so much for giving my father a bit of peace after 50 years.

For anyone interested in the history and culture of Vietnam, there is no better guide than Mr. Vu. He is extremely knowledgeable and he has a great ability to explain the nuances of Vietnamese history to visitors. He understands in detail the strategies and tactics of Vietnam's wars, as well as the complex politics behind them. Whether one is on his first visit to Vietnam or has been there many times, Mr. Vu is the right man to engage. Our primary interest was the war along the old Demilitarized Zone that marked the border between the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in the North, and the Republic of Vietnam in the South. Mr. Vu helped us find obscure, rarely-visited battle sites that have largely been forgotten, as well as taking us on a tour of better known sites such as Khe Sanh Combat Base and Quang Tri City. In addition to his detailed knowledge of Vietnamese social, political, and military history, Mr. Vu is a genuinely decent man who loves his work and enjoys explaining Vietnam to his clients. Even though he must have taken thousands of visitors on similar tours, his presentations are as fresh and interesting as if each client is his first. He also has an unbelievable amount of energy and patience in ensuring his clients are happy satisfied. One final important item: Mr. Vu is an excellent driver in a country where traffic can be confusing and unpredictable, and his vehicles are new and very comfortable. Visitors will appreciate this, especially on longer drives.

Mr. Vu is an incredibly knowledgable historian and a very friendly, funny tour guide. My father is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and Mr. Vu took us not only to some of the most famous battlefields and areas of the war (such as Khe Sanh, the Vinh Moc tunnels, etc), but took great time and care to also find locations where my father was stationed during the war. Along the way, he provides ample explanation of places and events, complete with period photographs that he keeps on his iPad. Without Mr. Vu, there is a great deal off of the beaten path that we would never have been able to locate ourselves, and the two days that we spent with him were phenomenal.
