Just outside the city, good for a short visit. Get blessing from the monks if you want. Offer flowers the ladies outside the temple make, Just go with the flow. I have not been able to figure out what the situation is with the main construction but it is becoming like the tower of Pisa. Girls to cover shoulder and knees. Scarfs are for rent outside next to the parking lot. For boys shorts are OK.

Beautiful stupa but no shade to cool off from the sun unless you duck in the corridors. There is an entrance fee although I forget how much it was (probably around 5000 kip like most temples) and there are photographers around to capture a family photo. Shops to rent the traditional Lao skirt (required for my sis since she wore pants) and buy drinks are across the street.

Seen one seen most all of them except the super temples. This is not one of them. They charge 5000 Kip to enter and 5000 Kip to park. It is peanuts really but just the same why pay when there are many older and more interesting temples to be seen for free and in the city center? It is also worth noting that it is super mixed up with regard to Hinduism and Buddhism. It is a nice enough place to sit for a few minutes but it is too hot to linger. Really charging to enter.? They claim this is a 2000 year old temple. I would highly doubt the place has been doing much for more than 150-250 years and the poor concrete art work can only be categorized as very recent - soviet era would be a good guess so after 1975. I met a French woman that bicycled out there - she was drenched in sweat and dehydrated. Pity on her but good on her for keeping fit! Not worth the journey in a car much less a bicycle but then again there is nothing else to do in Savannakhet.

Living in SE Asia I have visited a lot of temples/wats. I had high hopes for this one, perhaps a bit too high. The ride out from the hotel took longer than our whole visit. We arrived, paid roughly 10,000 Kip (40 Thai Baht) and went in. Snapped a picture, said a prayer and that was it.
The temple/wat is a bit run down (especially compared to the temples/wats in Thailand). I was really disappointed. :-(

Worth to spend the day out to visit this ancient Buddhist sacred site with local traditions and the village surrounding the area with natural forests reserve outside Savannakhet.. calming and serene temples with beautiful sunlight between palms trees

I personally enjoy taking in “Temples” once in awhile. There was an elderly women at the entrance that wanted to give her well wishes to everyone one. The place was clean. Handful of Monks in present to give their good wishes and pray with people. Probably don’t need more than 1/2 hour there. It was something to take in.

Temples are a great place to seek solitude.
That Inghang is quiet and in my experience, best visited with a close Lao friend.
Can be reached via the main Savannakhet - Seno road or the alternative route via Lake Bungva.

We enjoyed this Stupa and the many outlying buildings and garden areas. A stroll through the adjacent village was interesting and the inhabitants were very engaging. It is a very important area for the local populous with modSt visitors Lao. We found it a nice place for a 2 hour visit, very scenic.

My wife and I visited the monument yesterday, other than the centre monument is impressive and said to hold some bones of Buddha there is not much to see. There is a line of concrete statues that are in need of attention. The grounds are dry and not maintained for such a historical site. Yes it was interesting to see but maintenance and pride should be put into the site. Ladies need to wear a skirt to enter even if they have jeans on, men can wear from what I saw whatever they like. It’s a one time only place to see and entry is free.
