A true 'hidden gem' with great snow record

Although we've skied in nearly 100 different ski areas in Europe and North America over the past 15 years, we'd not really heard of Damuls and the wider Bregenzerwald ski area but after visiting for a day from nearby St Anton in March 2016 we'll certainly be back. Unspoilt and relatively un-crowded with runs to suit everybody, but best of... More

Major confusion presides of the precise areas that the multi-day ski-pass is valid. Take care - I was caught out with the misleading sale of a 10-day 3-Taelerpass. It is not valid for the same locations as a season pass. If you travel to Sonnenkpfbahn you will not be admitted and on top of that you will loose a whole... More

After a lot of searching through the hundreds of alpine resorts of austria i came across a little known resort of Damuls. Not being on the british package tour operators list of destinations was half the attraction. Travel was fairly easy with a little planning, we flew with easy jet to Friedrichshafen and from there a fairly simple hour and... More

Vast ski area spanning several mountains with plenty of lifts and slopes for every skill level. Altough it is so big, it can still get extremely crowded on sunny winter weekends.

This was our second visit to the Damuls-Mellau ski area, famous for its heavy snowfalls. Our first day's skiing was in rain, our last in snow so heavy we couldn't ski, but in-between we had mostly decent conditions (plus an excellent day, in sunshine, in nearby Warth (on the same ski pass)). With the weather, we barely got over to... More

Billed the snowiest village in Europe, this snow resort is just 30 minutes from St Anton, but unknown to most. Inaccessible to coaches, Brits Abroad don't bother with it, leaving it to the German ski holidayers to enjoy year after year and keeping the secret to themselves. Fantastic resort with really warm and welcoming people / shops / restaurants in... More

After having been to Damuls 40 years ago we decided to enjoy a week's skiing there again. The skiing and snow is fantastic , some of the lifts are getting a little too old and are slow. But the new lifts are very nice. For experienced skieérs there are some interesting decents. Lot of ski tours and off piste possibilities... More
