Almere is a city you can find literally everything. The City Mall is an amazing place with a big variety of shops and it doesn't have Amsterdam's crowds. Most of the time you will find English speaking employees working so you feel comfortable wherever you are.
I have to point that Almere has a specific place you can find all restaurants from different places of the earth (there are more of course, so check my other reviews too).

During one of my trips of the Netherlands we had to shop for clothes and other items for my whole family. This city mall is situated right in the center and easy accessible from the train station. It's open, it's modern and fresh and all the big brands and good stores are there to help you out with whatever you need from clothing to food to accessories and a lot more

If you like wind, this is the place to go! The architectural design of the shopping area resulted in a giant wind tunnel. Next to the shopping are is a beautiful waterfront. This is for the most part blocked by the one building that doesn't require a view: a theater.

Whoever designed this shopping area, must rethink his career.

Positives: The Christmas decorations are nice.

Hey, I live in this town, so I do some shopping here, but the City Mall (aka Citymall 036, after the telephone prefix for Almere) is not a place that is very attractive. Nevertheless I meet people that come all the way from Belgium to take pictures of the modern architecture. Almere used to be bottom of the see and is only about 30 years old. That means that infrastructure could be designed with the demands of a modern city, rather than trying to find space within the characteristics of an old one. On the downside it lacks the typical atmosphere that makes shopping in older towns so attractive.
Many shops close in the city center and the assortment becomes more and more only apparel. There is not much possibility to look for special items and surprise yourself. As a result there is a lot of competition of shops all trying to get a slice of the same cake and many don't make it; expensive rent and high competition in combination with an unattractive variation of stores makes it hard for entrepreneurs to keep their business open and therefore many close and make it even less attractive. Almere City Mall is undergoing a downward spiral and it will be hard to get out of this. Even national brands fail to survive in this location. Too bad! BTW make sure you can afford the parking. You might want to opt for public transport, which is very good in and towards Almere.

Plenty of shops, but for something this recently build, there are so many lost opportunities. There are too many slopes and too open air. Seeing how it's set up, it creates a wind tunnel effect. Plus knowing you are in a country where it often rains, they should have covered it. This would make it fine to shop whatever the weather. Shame.

It's a good place to go shopping and enjoy a day out. Most important brands are represented by a shop here. With friends and family you can enjoy a nice lunch, dinner or movie inside the shopping center.Close to public transportation, less busy than Amsterdam.
