Modern building in "functionalism style"
Aug 2012
Josef Mareš, then Mayor of Znojmo, chose as location for his representative seat an at that time empty plateau overlooking the Thaya Valley. Jan Víšek (a family friend) designed the striking construction, architect L. Všetečka.Three floors with half of an attic, next to the concierge construction a lobby which is connected via a staircase with the next floor where the apartment was of the Mareš’ mother, as well as dining room and living room. Bedroom and kitchen were on the floor above. More or less 1/3 roof-surface is a timeless roof terrace, the servant rooms and guest rooms were accommodated in the other half of the "attic". Unlike the facade surfaces with dark green window frames and balustrades were the interiors produced by a local furniture maker which were combined with antique family heritage furniture. The villa, still owned by the Mareš family, is one of the most important examples of private residential buildings Josef Mareš, then Mayor of Znojmo, chose as location for his representative seat an at that time empty plateau overlooking the Thaya Valley.
