Light and airy, just a few small restricted areas make this church easy to notice it details and to photograph. The oldest mentioning of this st. Nicholas church dates from 1190, but in the dinars of Prince Lutold minted in Znojmo around 1103 is the silhouette of the Church and inscription "s. Nicolaus" printed. Built on a rocky promontory in the vicinity of Znojmo Castle, which was also part of the chapel. St. Nicholas is the patron saint of merchants and of Znojmo city. Written mention 1131 and 1190 when it was entrusted under the protection of the newly founded premonstratenzer monastery in Loucká. After a great fire in 1335 the Margrave of Moravia, later emperor Charles IV, had in in 1338 a new church in early Gothic style Cathedral built, construction was intermittently continued until 1440. Three-aisled church with high arches, a total size of 60 x 22 metres. 17th-18th Century baroque interior, mainly from gifts and bequests by wealthy benefactors.

This church is really beautiful. Huge, well renovated and last but not least it is free to visit. The spot, on the edge of the city / hill is breathtaking. You can make good photos there.

I visited this place in August 2012 and loved both the church and the town and its people, too. It is a must if you go by car from Prague to Vienna, for example. The view to the valley its terrific. I loved to walk on the other side of the river from the Louka monastery back to the center, through the garden collony, where the locals have very well kept fruit trees and flower beds. Again, a terrific view from there!

The Church of St. Nicholas in Znojmo is a beautiful monument. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful place on the view from the rotunda.

A wonderful three-nave church with splendid vaulting and pulpit. Interesting fresco paintings in the presbytery and lots of gothic art in the naves. No entrance fee.
When standing in front of the church, you get breathtaking views of the valley, river and castle on the opposite hill.

The church is pretty and the views on the river are outstanding. There is a lower level where you can see the older parts of the church

It is within walking distance from Znojmo Castle and the view from the balconies at St Nicholas Chirch is very good- view of Dyje River and the houses and buildings along its sloping sides uphill. I visited in 2014 Sept.

Visit St. Nicholas Church which is the largest religious monument in Znojmo. It is a part of the typical Znojmo panorama and it provides the most beautiful view of the skyline can be seen from the walls of Znojmo castle. This monumental church stands on a promontory overlooking the river of Dyje. The beautifully renovated and spacious building of the church also has many indoor attractions. You will certainly be interested in the Baroque pulpit in the shape of a golden globe and the unique Gothic frescoes or the sculpture of Jesus Christ from the same period. Monumentally the church is illustrated by the neo-gothic organ.
