The Shigar Valley begins shortly after Skardu on the road to Kaphlu. The valley is accessed from above, so the view of the valley and the river below is breathtaking. Once you go down you arrive at the village of Shigar, where there are a fortress and three historic mosques.

One of the most beautiful valley in Skardu with stunning views all around . We visited the hidden lake which has a live fresh trout farm in its centre , one can buy live trouts from here and get them cooked. Pure Natural beauty We visited the Shigar Serena fort also which is a must see location. Plenty of places for watching spectacular views of valley and taking photos.

We stayed here 2 days explored by foot, A valley surrounded by mountains, if you walk around you will come across small local tea shops by river banks, many old mosques, and houses from Indus civilisation era but you need to look for it, if you can find you way there is Buddhist scriptures on rock above Shigar fort almost a 30 minute hike away, highly recommend to do if you are in area and try witnessing local life as the people are friendly and helpful.

Shigar is one of those places where I would love to go back any time. The beauty is enchanting, specially the beautiful Shigar Fort and the Katpana Cold Desert. It's spellbinding.

Beautiful valley in proximity of Skardu city, easily accessible by road. Offers great views of mountains and fields, rich rural and distinct culture of Baltistan, an amazing fortress turned into a boutique hotel. Shigar is rich in fruits such as cherries, apricot, apples. The architecture is very special and unique, the mosque just outside the Shigar fortress is a fine sight.

want to ask that is it possible to access shigar with your own vehicle (honda city), from skardu.
Written May 6, 2018
Yes, it is possible. Locals drive around in their own cars, all the time. You must not expect the roads to be as good as they’re in Lahore but yes you can. Cheers
