Fantastic museum where you can learn a lot about the history of sugar and its impact on the culture and history of Mauritius as well as how sugar is made. Very well presented and informative. At the end you can taste (and buy!) rum, sugar and jam. It takes 1 to 2 hours to get around the museum and was good value.

While at L’aventura de sucre, my husband and I took a guided tour led by Devina. We both agreed she was the most informative guide we’ve ever had on a museum tour. Devina knew everything about Mauritian history and the sugar making process. She was also fun to talk to and moved us seamlessly through all the exhibits. We highly recommend taking the guided tour to make the most out of your visit and really learn about sugar!

Really great place to visit interesting history of Mauritius and loads of details about making sugar . Mostly indoors . Lots of impressive machinery and really well explained processes . Restaurant is also great and the shop/tasting area is beautifully done. No high pressure selling. Many hotels can give you vouchers for free entry if you ask .

Nice historical photo information on the background etc of sugarcane and its progress to now. Nice photograph timeline, we didn’t do the audio tour. Liked the way they showcase the old processing machinery. Like that there’s options for kids too, to keep them engaged. Nice tastings at end (inc rum, which we don’t do), and a gift shop too. Appreciated the sporadic oscillating fans on a hot day.

Interesting place to visit on a rainy day. Lots of information on the history of Mauritius and sugar. We did not take the interactive guide but chose to read instead - it was a lot but informative! Rhum and sugar tasting were included in the entry price. We enjoyed meeting Neil, who served us at the rhum tasting our first time there (we went back later during our trip to get the rhum and had the pleasure of chatting to him again with less people around than on the rainy day). He knew what he was talking about and took time with us to answer our questions on the rhum and the country.

Terrific, in-depth exposition on Mauritius history which is built on the sucre cane industry. Passionate team of storytellers. Really enjoyed the extra exposition by local artist on how to reduce climate change impact. Highly recommended to spent 2-3 hours. Coffee and vegetarian lunch in adjacent restaurant is good too!

Our visit to adventure was very interesting, new adventure and new discovery. The most interesting thing was the staffs even we can see there was shortage of staff but they are always welcoming with a large smile. Thanks to Dashnee, cheering personnalité. She made our day. Very interesting, the preserved buildings and very detailed exhibits brought sugar production, the related history of Mauritius and products made from sugar cane to life. As well as this, it has a good shop and a lovely restaurant: Anna, the boutique manager was excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable without being pushy. We finished with an unplanned (and delicious) lunch. Well worth a visit.

This was an excellent attraction. All the exhibits were well done and interesting. It was easy to get to from Grand. Baie. Just a short walk from where express bus 215 to Port Louis drops you. The food in the cafe was also excellent and well priced

Very nice trip. We did the cane cutting tour and cocktail making which was a very fun experience. We tasted raw sugar cane and sugar cane juice and made a Mauritian cocktail with Kevin who told us all the steps. Afterwards we visited the big museum (separate tickets), also nice for kids! At the end of the museum you can join a tasting of various local products, such as different types of sugar, honey and rum. Neil made our rum tasting a fun experience. Definitely a recommendation.
