These 1800-hectare national parklands are set in the Avon Valley. The Swan River becomes a thrashing white-water stream as it runs through the park, making it a favored location for canoeing and rafting. The park's walking trails are shaded by Wundoo, Jarrah and Flooded Gum trees, and kangaroos and bird life flourish. Wildflowers are spectacular in spring and in winter the rugged scenery is captivating. The park provides numerous picnic and barbecue areas.

Not the best park you can visit

Average park with a sick vegetation and a contaminated river that runs through it. There are many other worthwhile parks rather than this one.

Went here today with my partner and did the syd's rapids walk trail. There are two nice picnic areas with well maintained ablution blocks and lots of free bbqs to use; park volunteers kerp the grounds very well maintained. Pretty cool to see where the nyoongar people used to camp back in the day; we will be back to do... More

Perfect for a hike in winter time. Different tracks from 2km up to 11km, with great lookouts, plenty of wild flowers and Roos. Bbq facilities and toilets at the river. Typical national park entry fees apply.

What a truly stunning little area . It is especially lovely when we have had some rain and the Rapids are Rapids . We had a family picnic here recently and it's beautiful lots of exploring to do around the waters edge and surrounding area . The toilet amenities where clean . Not too far from the city and it... We set off for a BBQ lunch from Perth (Fremantle) as the day was a perfect one for just this, but still although April the Fire Bans are still in place, so a destination with Gas BBQ facilities was required. We just loved the Park, did a couple of lovely, easy walks, children riding bikes passing us, prams and young... More

A very good place for picnic, BBQ with friends or family. Toilets are well kept and lots of parking facilities, picnic benches and BBQ works well. There's a fee of $12 per vehicle. Love the sort of natural pool, river and going for a walk is so blissful with the sound of rushing water. I thinks overseas tourists may somewhat... More

I'm a sucker for National Parks, wherever they are. As long as the tracks aren't too treacherous and don't require too many tools then I'm a sucker for going. This park carries the usual $12 entry per car fee (free if you cycle or walk) and features a car park and clean toilets. We went on the 11km walk which... More

This is our closest National Park. We recently had a Valentines breakfast here. A good number of clean working BBQs are available at the first car park, with views over the river. The park has two car parks, with a number of walks of different lengths, the shortest being from the cars parks to the rapids along the banks of... More

If you are a local and have a national parks pass etc, I can see why its nice to come down for a BBQ or picnic by the river and go for a walk. I took on the longest walk (Echidna), taking 2.5hrs all the best bits are in the first 30 minutes! That's the river side walk and then... More
