Space is limited each day to 650 people, but it is well-worth the visit. The site is 5,000 years old, which makes it older than the pyramids. Historians was once believed Newgrange was a passage tomb, but now is believed to be an ancient temple.

Visited both Knowth and Newgrange sites, the Visitor Centre is well organised and efficiently run, parking is free with plenty of available sites. Both sites have a guide who delivers relevant information. My favourite was Newgrange because of the significance of the site and the amazing design of the tomb. It is a must do if you are anywhere near... More

The Monuments are an extraordinary marvel at what man could do during a time with no machines. This location is as much a mystery as Stonehenge or the great pyramids. There is no way to explain how rocks from as far away as 30 to 50 miles are placed in the tombs and how they set up to allow the... More

Loved the tours of Knowth & Newgrange. Knowth is by far the most interesting and beautiful of the 2 sites. If you can only visit 1 site, visit Knowth. I wish there was more time allowed at the site. I've been 3 times and have always felt rushed around it. It is huge with lots to see. Beautiful buildings, carvings... More

I had visited New grange back in the 90s and thought it interesting but knew very little about its origins or connections to the other sites in the area. I took my family there this August and we were all enthralled. What a wonderful facility. It looks good and is well organised. Excellent staff and surprisingly good food in the... More

Booking is advised as it can get busy. Arriving late in the day can lead to disappointment. This family day out would only be limited by your young people's enthusiasm for tours. We'd have loved to do both on offer, but felt a total of 2.5 hrs on tours would be too much for them. 1hr Newgrange only. You can... More

We Visited with two kids and some friends - the centre was very busy when we arrived and we had to book onto a later tour. The facilities in the centre are very good, nice shop, cafe and nice views and outdoor areas. Newgrange is a great visit, the site is lovely - well maintained and we'll run with the... More

You have to see both. You have to go early to book your places on the tours. Very reasonably priced for some amazing history and structures.

Great day spent at Newgrange , you will be transported to Newgrange and Knowth sites by shuttle bus , be prepared to have to wait for the shuttle bus but this can be done going through the visitor center and the lovely restaurant on site. I just went to the newgrange site which was facinating to see a structure so... More

What an amazing thing to have the privilege to visit! These burial mounds are fascinating and are just amazing when you consider that they were built 500 years before the pyramids of Giza!
