A lovely Siva temple with a large number of visitors. Manages to maintain order and cleanliness. A sprawling temple tank is located in the premises. There is a special place for Angarakan (Mars). Spaces inside the temple where one can quietly meditate and contemplate. A six hour drive from Chennai.

A beautiful temple with wonderful vibrations. The temple complex is enormous. The temple main deity is Vaitheeswaran:: Shiva the healer. People come here to pray to swamy to heal them of their diseases.
The tank inside the temple is gorgeous.

Visited in the evening. Huge temple. Crowded and too much noise of people talking and shouting. At the entrance, the vendors will be after you to buy the things required for the pooja. These items (salt, lamp etc.) are available inside the temple as well.

First, the original name of this place is Pullirukkuvelur, which in Tamil means the place worshiped by Pull (Jatayu), Irukku (Rig Vedam) and Vel (Suryan).
Important notes:
1. Lord and Lordess are known by the names of Vaithyanatha Swamy (God of healing) and Thaiyal Nayagi.
2. Lord Rama is said to have worshipped the Lord here after doing the final rites of Jatayu. The place where the final rites happened is known as Jatayu kundam which is available in the inner praharam of the Lord.
3. More than the Lord and Lordess, their son Lord Muthukumaraswamy is more celebrated here. It is believed that he had got the trident from his parents at this place.
4. Lord Angharaha (Mars) is said to suffer from leprosy before he attained the graha status and is said to have his disease cured by the Lord here and also attained the status of a graha.
5. There is no seperate moolavar for Lord Muthukumarasamy. His urchavar image itself is a celebrated one. It is placed diagonally between the Lord and Lordess sannathis like the Somaskanda form.
6. Don't miss Lord Dhanvantri in the inner praharam. He is one of the 18 reverred siddhas and is a prime contributor to siddha medicines.
7. It is a practice to offer salt and pepper here and also a small piece of jaggery in the temple pond (similar to Lord Veeraraghava in Thiruvallur).
8. Many people have this Lord as their family God and they offer their hair here and also light a lamp in rice flour.
9. Remember to buy santhu urundai (small beads of holy ash) which is considered as divine medicine to eat. As of 2017, a small pack costs Rs.10. It was Rs.5 in 2008.
10. This temple doesn't have a lot of parking space and often you would have to walk barefoot from parking place to temple which would be hard for kids during summer especially between 11 AM and 12:30 PM.
11. You can find 100s of Nadi astrology centers around this place. It is said that most of the nadis are lost and whatever remained were stored in a public libary in Thanjavur. During the British Raj, these were taken from the library and auctioned to public where some familes have bought different sets of nadis. It is not clear which of them have the original ones and if they interpret them right. Believe at your own risk.
12. From here, you can plan to visit Thiruvengadu and Thirukadaiyur (both within 30 mins of travel from this temple).
13. The famous Nangur divya desams (11 or 12 temples revered by Thirumangai Alwar) is also very close.
14. Sirkazhi is about 15 mins from this place and has quite a lot of ameneties to stay and refresh.

Last week I visited this Temple with my family.. I have searched for sevvai dhosam parihara in google. called the given phone number. They said it will cost arround 10 k to do the pooja.

But it will cost just only 55 RUPEES

Kindly follow this steps to do pariharam.

Don't talk with anyone in front of temple. There are many frauds are waiting to brain wash you to get more money from you! They will approach you to guide you. So Don't buy anything in the front of temple store. Because they are waiting to earn more from you

1. Buy 4 to 5 coconuts, banana 2 sevvarali malai, manjal, Kungumam, 🔴 red cotten towl size cloth.

2. Visit temple theppakulam, take a bath and wear wet red 🔴 clothes

3.buy sevvai nivarthi archanai ticket. It will cost you Rs. 55

4. Give your pooja saamangal 🥥🍌🔴 to archagar.. Probably he will ask you 200 to 300 kanikkai. Then wait on vinayagar sandhathi.. They will call you through temple 🔔bell.

5. He will do pooja for Vinayagar, vaitheshwarar, Thaila nayagi amman, angaragan etc for all sevvai dhosha people's

Finally he will wear you the sevvarali maalai to you and return your pooja saamangal.

6. Buy 7 red apples and give it to people to eat
Or offer red color foods to poor people for 9 weeks. And finaly do honey abishegam for God Siva

Your sevvai dhosha will be normal... Thanks for reading my contents...

Note ; don't waste your money with broker's.. For that money offer some meals to poor people that who want to eat... God will definitely help you..

This temple is located in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu. This temple is significant for many things. For many families this is the family deity temple. The main deity is Lord Shiva by name, Vaitheeswaran who said to cure all ailments, hence the name. His consort is Thaiyalnayagi (Balaambigai). This temple is famous for Ankaaraga (one of the Navagrahas). A beautiful Selva Muthukumaraswamy adorns one side of the temple. Normally anyone visiting this temple performs archani to 5 deities...Vinayakar, Ankaaragan, Vaidyanathaswamy, Thaiyalnayagi and Muthukumaraswamy. Devotees offer pepper and salt here to ward off their ailments. 2 to 3 hours shall be spent easily going around this temple. There are many shops on either side of the entry to the temple selling pooja items, bangles toys etc... The temple tank is very big and lovely. Generally people visit here for head tonsure (all age group) and take a bath in this temple tank and worship the deities. Do not miss to notice the sculptings on the walls and pillars. There are many hotels/lodges in this place. Many hotels around. For vegetarians.....i recommend having lunch at Sriram mess....less spicy and homely. A must visit place.

I'm writing this review while returning back from the temple. I was advised to visit the temple to overcome my marriage obstacles. The moment i got down from bus, i got grand welcome (lol) and i knew their intentions but still I gave them business. When they get to know tat u r new to town , they politely offer help by sending a seperate person with u to take care of ur darshan. Indeed he will ensure ur darshan and all the rituals , are done properly and he will assist u in every stage. He would act like a guide , he will get u a seperate poojari to take care of everything. But all this comes at hefty price. They charge anywhere between 1000 to 2000. This s additional to puja items and poojari dakshana. To avoid tis, just go inside temple and talk to any poojari and he would charge u 300 plus pooja items and he would take care of everything. I don't want to regret for my experience but my point is beware of shop keepers and nadi astrologers.

Its nice temple but there are more scams by shops inside temple so if you decide to pay salt and pepper as offering please purchase it outside or purchase it in your own place of stay a little bit pricey and same for jaggery and prasada too. And remember not to throw litters at every place as others do throw it in bin and keep temple a clean place and don't forgot about monkeys always kept your valuable inside car or safely in your room

The place is also known for praying to mars planet in case you have any managala planet related problems in your horoscope, and this is one of the must visit temples in nava graha circuit.
