The beach is black sand beach, with good and big area to seat. On our arrival the beach was closed bu we allowed to explore the area. It’s clean but small area to swim but the plus poin is, it has 2 swimming pool for adult and kids

This is my first review on trip advisor, but I feel like I should contribute. As no one seems to have gone where I have gone. When you get at the second beach (the one you reach after the hilly path) you should charter a boat and ask them to bring you to the small bay (you can't reach it by any other way). Once you get there the snorkeling is great and the beach very clean! We were the only ones out there that day and we enjoyed ourselves for the whole afternoon. It was really worth it! Just look at the pictures and you'll understand!

This beach seems to have been crowded, heard the story that this beach is famous to foreign countries. But unfortunately, this time it looks a bit shabby. Stalls dominate the coastal area. Some of them are not maintained. Hopefully this beach manager can make changes so that this area can be better organized and attractive #batulocalguides #letsguide

We'd read that this was the best place on Ternate for snorkelling. Clearly the author had not tried it himself. The view under the water is the saddest thing to see: not a living thing in sight. Just a broad expanse of dead coral with the occasional bit of rubbish. The beach itself is tiny and the food shacks around it don't inspire confidence in their cleanliness. I think a Western tourist would be foolhardy to eat anything from here. We were asked to pay 2,000 rupiah (about €0.20) for use of a small, dark, dank shelter with a bucket of water and scoop to pour fresh water over ourselves when we came out of the sea. We felt uncomfortable in our swimming suits and kept covered up until we were in the water.
There are places to snorkel not too far from this beach but they are only accessible by motor boat: about a 10 minute ride. A local expert is a must to find the right places and plastic shoes and a black inner tube are also highly recommended to float over the shallow bits and reach the areas deep enough to actually swim.

The best time to go to Sulamadaha Beach is definitely on the weekdays because on the weekend there will be too many crowds. This is definitely one of my favorite places to hang out with friends in small island like Ternate. The entry ticket is very cheap only 10.000/car. foods and drinks are much much cheaper than Tapak Dua. When you arrive in Hall make sure to rent the boat or snorkeling. People are friendly and nice to talk too. I usually can seat for hours just for reading books and enjoy the view. Also from Sulamadaha to Hall there is a beautiful walking path where you can walk and enjoy the nature surrounding. The one & only downside I found is that there is no coastal guard so it is quite a bit risky for people who can't swim.

More info for those who look for cheap accommodation (Rp. 150.000/day) in Ternate, I have a room to rent, you can have look on airbnb website for further info or msg me.

This beach is really beautiful, to get into this place, you have to walk over a narrow passage several hundred meters long. What amazing is, it's safe to snorkeling in this beach and you don't have to swim far to see a lot of beautiful coral fishes

My personal best Beach ever. Quite, easy to access, and super beautiful. Not much i can say, i just love this place. Healthy coral and uniquely beautiful bird song is something I can't forget. This is heaven at least for me 🙂

Need to takes small boat to lake nita and you can get better reef for snorkeling. Sulamadaha it self has dark sands and need to walk to another side for better place to swim..there's no janitor or changing rooms properly for having bath after swimming.

This beach located in the northern part of Ternate island. Its very clear to see Hiri island from this place. This place provides several services such as souvenirs, food, and drinks. There are a few sport for swimming. Its also recommended for some parties in this place.

Ok spot for snorkeling tucked away down a paved footpath/ojek path. Parking here can incur a fee which varies based on whether you're Indonesian or a local. Be aware of scams. The first beach is not much to look at with black sand and rougher waves. However, once you walk down the paved path to the left you get some decent views and the beach at the end, while nothing spectacular, is ok for snorkeling. There's a number of warungs and foodstalls to stop at. You can also rent snorkel gear from some places, but don't always count on availability (was Rp 35.000 each but this was probably because we were a larger group and spoke Bahasa). Best to bring your own snorkel gear. The beach is not great for wading/swimming unless you swim out away from the shoreline. There's active coral right off the beach about 10 meters, so take care when walking - dive booties or fins are helpful. Saw lots of fish, coral and even seat turtles once the depth gets down to about 3 meters or so. Beware of the currents and passing boats though and don't go alone.
