A trip to the Silver museet in Winter was a delightful way to spend a couple of hours. Carefully selected silver pieces that tell the story of the Sami indigenous people, short film to highlight the best of Arjeplog, other considered curated pieces especially for children to explain the traditional life style of these people and the importance of the reindeer in their lives. Most enjoyable

The name doesn’t do it justice. It is so much more representing the history and the future of this northern Swedish community. The building isn’t large from the front. Once inside the space opens out into an extensive basement which includes a state of the art presentation room. The ‘slide show’ was in either Swedish or English and used 3 screens and fabulous sound. The presentation talked about the past, present and future in a very entertaining way. The museum galleries covered everyday life in the town, the development of the town and the natural surroundings. Enough to keep me interested for a couple of hours!
