A trip to the Silver museet in Winter was a delightful way to spend a couple of hours. Carefully selected silver pieces that tell the story of the Sami indigenous people, short film to highlight the best of Arjeplog, other considered curated pieces especially for children to explain the traditional life style of these people and the importance of the reindeer in their lives. Most enjoyable

The name doesn’t do it justice. It is so much more representing the history and the future of this northern Swedish community.

The building isn’t large from the front. Once inside the space opens out into an extensive basement which includes a state of the art presentation room. The ‘slide show’ was in either Swedish or English and used 3 screens and fabulous sound. The presentation talked about the past, present and future in a very entertaining way.

The museum galleries covered everyday life in the town, the development of the town and the natural surroundings.

Enough to keep me interested for a couple of hours!

Very well presented museum about the early settlers and Sami culture. The movie about Arjeplog was also good although it could be longer and developed the stories a bit more. Many artifacts and a lot of info. One bad point is the lack of translation in English in some part, specially the bottom level. Friendly staff. Very good value

Really one of the best museum about Sami's culture.

If you pass by, it's a must to visit it. And the film projected in the cinema room is very well made, with some special effects :-)

Information about the Sami culture and about a doctor that moved to the area, collected many local items and contributed to the community in many ways. The history of the local settlements that became Arjeplog is very interesting. You can also see a short film that gives a general impression about life in Arjeplog. The tourist information center is located in the same building and the museum has a shop and they sell very good coffee. The staff are very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and fluent in several languages. But what we liked the most is that the people responsible for this museum are thinking ahead; this is also an institution that does research in order to develop environmental strategies that take into account economic activity and conservation. Highly recommended.

Nice museum, open all year round. 80 SEK, includes a movie about Arjeplog. The museum is not only about silver, there is also a lot of history about Sami and the region.

We were on our first trip ever in Lapland Sweden in Arjeplog.
We were staying in IGLOOTEL/KRAJA Hotel... It was very nice and very exciting.
I never thought that you can do so many fun stuff on ice.
We were doing ice-driving, husky tour, snow-mobile tour and sleeping in Igloo.
It was a life-time experience. The people are very friendly and very helpful everywhere.
Our Hotel was not very far from Silvermuseet. It was a nice walk on the snow.
The Museum was very interesting. Also in the area there are quite a few restaurants, shops, supermarket that you can walk around and spending some money.

Very interesting and worth a visit if you have the time to stop by. Nice shop where you can by a present, coffee/fika or fishing permit.
They were even playing a picture slideshow about the life there.

Interesting exhibitons and presentations about the life and the history of the people of Lappland. I visited it a few years ago but I'm sure that it is still great.

The silver museum is a very interesting way to spend a few hours should you find yourself in Arjeplog. I visit every year for business purposes and like to make the time to have a good look around the museum each time.
