Since we were in Kumily, we decided to spend an hour exploring one of the spice plantations in the area. We picked Abraham's Spice garden after a Google search and it turned out to be one of our best decisions on the trip. Mr. Abraham is a genial, enthusiastic and knowledgeable person who takes a lot of pride in showing visitors his little forest ( that's the only way I can begin to describe it). We saw cardamom, pepper, cocoa, coffee, nutmeg, cinnamon, bananas, colocassia, gigantic lemons, papayas, jackfruits, unusual flowers, ferns, very old and gigantic mango trees and so much more . Mr Abraham , along the way, crushed leaves and allowed us to taste and smell some of the fragrant spices. We purchased some spices from their in-house shop at very reasonable prices. Mr. Abraham was also generous enough to give me a small tuber of Colocasia to take back home to plant in my garden. This is a highly recommended tour. It is a lot more personal than a similar spice plantation tour I had done in Goa a few years ago, The biggest differentiator is clearly Mr. Abraham himself and his passion for everything he grows.

It's a fantastic place in thekkady where you can get lot of information about spice and various other plants. Mr. Abraham is an expertise who enthusiastically explains about the steps involved in growing and harvesting spices. He also have a cardamom drying unit in his garden where we can have hands on experience about the process involved in it.

This beautiful garden is the result of Mr. Abraham's dedication and love towards nature.

We were suggested by a local couple to visit Abraham's Spice Garden instead of the commercial ones and it proved to be the best advice given to us.
Abraham uncle is a 70-year-old uncle and super enthusiastic to show you around the huge garden.
He has immense knowledge about the entire spice world and is more than happy to share the same with you. He gives you most of the spices for tasting and smelling.
The experience is so much better than going to the commercial spaces on the way around. You should also buy spices from him as he sells them at a very very reasonable price.

Hope you find Abraham's Spice Garden and enjoy the tour whilst smelling & tasting the spices!

We spent a few hours with Mr. Abraham who went above and beyond to introduce us to a whole world unknown to us. He was so enthusiastic about his garden, herbs, and spices. We learnt a lot from him. He is an incredible man with a beautiful garden. Extremely knowledgable. This is a place that you must visit!

It was a very genuine tour where Abraham himself took us around his garden. His knowledge about all the plants and how to cultivate them was simply astounding. Very educational tour and throughly interesting. We enjoyed every minute we spent with him. Make sure you visit his garden if you ever go to Thekkady.

Mr. Abraham has a humongous collection of exquisite herbs. flowers, spices and fruits. He gave us a two hours trip of his garden, showing us all the varieties and letting us taste everything. We also got to taste some local fruits like the passion fruit which has an amazing taste. He seems to know each and every tree and shrub and the knowledge he shares with years of experience is priceless.

We already had a tour in some other spice garden but they gave us a 15 min tour and gave no proper explanation but then we heard about abraham and went there just to get spices, however we were so amazed by Abraham's passion and his knowledge about his garden that we had to take a tour again and I would say that it was completely worth it. If you are in thekkady don't miss out on this place. They also charge very genuine prices for the spices that they grow in their garden. All other plantations around kumily and thekkady are very commercialized and charge very high prices.

Excellent experience. Cab driver or tour operators will never take you places which really stands out. Mr. Abraham gave us a detailed walkthrough of his spice garden with unique sense of welcomeness. If you actually want to see how natural spices grow then this is the place. Do not miss this if you are in kumali. Super experience. His garden is also nominated by BBC.
Go there once, Do not miss. Thank You.
