Spice garden
Nov 2018 • Family
Many spice gardens you will find in kerala on road. They invite you inside to see different types of spices and their medicinal use and forming method and growth of the tree or the plant. They provide guide for each family or group. Entry fees was little high and they also encourage you to buy good quality organic spices from their shops.

Most spice gardens in Kerala just want to get you into their shop but this was different. Mr Sebastian is over 65 and has lived and worked this small holding with his wife for years. He will take you round and show you lots of different seeds, pods, leaves and describe their properties that could be culinary or medicinal. Interesting to spend and hour or so with him and it costs 250 rupees each or £2.50. There is a shop run by someone else for him so you can buy if you wish.

There are many spice gardens on the tourist trails in Kerala. Most just want to get you round the gardens and into the shop. This garden doesn't look much at all but Mr Sebastian who is over 65 and has owned and run it for years will spend an hour or so taking you round the plants and trees and explaining them and their purposes in food and medicine in Kerala. You will get to taste a variety of seeds and pods! There is a shop on site that someone else runs for him if you want to buy stuff. The tour will cost you 500 rupees (£5 per person). Give it a go!
