All agencies on the square offer the same tour for the same price. Our tour of Kuelap was successful and organised. We met at the office and walked a short distance to a minibus for transport to the teleferico. Our tour was mostly Peruvians, but our guide spoke a good level of Spanish. Although our bus looked a little shabby from the outside it was very comfortable and the windows opened. The lunch provided during the excursion was substantial and ready when we arrived. (we ordered before going to the Kuelap site). We were able to buy beers and the toilets were clean. The driver was very good on a twisty road.

Reputedly the third highest waterfall in the world (and disregarding the volume of water), do fit this natural wonder of the world into your program if you can. Taking that as a given, know that to walk the trail there and back comfortably requires five hours. Take an umbrella-the weather can change quite rapidly. Equally, the volume of water in the falls can quadruple after heavy rain. The route can get muddy – you can hire boots for three soles. Do not be dragooned into paying 100 soles for a group tour-it is quite in order to walk the trail solo. And there it is-enjoy!

We took a day tour to Kuelap and were promised an English speaking guide. This was not the case, but we have good enough Spanish to not be bothered by this. Everything was perfectly timed and done. Guide (although didn't speak English) payed a great amount of attention to all the clients. Lunch was provided at a local restaurant at Tingo (base town of Kuelap) and was delicious. On top of it, this was probably the cheapest tour we found, costing us approximately the same or less if we had gone without a tour.

We booked a tour to Kuelap including lunch for the next day. Tour started more or less on time. Guide was a funny guy and spoke Spanish (he might have spoken English too but we didn't ask for translations as we were the only foreign tourists and didn't want to hold up the tour - and we speak some Spanish too). He was able to answer all questions we had. Kuelap really is impressive. After visiting the fortress we had lunch before returning to Chachapoyas. We expected the normal low quality tourist restaurant food and were surprised with really delicious mains (grilled chicken and sauteed veggies with rice). Tour went smooth, although the others in our group were slow walkers which created some waiting time - none of the operators fault.

Having seen other reviews, we decided to book a two-day private tour with Santa Maria Travel. Moe was very prompt and helpful in responding to our questions and concerns via email. We spent two days is Myanmar with a wonderful guide, Zaw. We were on the Oceania Nautica, and Zaw and our driver met us at the cruise terminal. After a bit of a miscommunication (we had been instructed by ship personnel to meet tours at the gate and our guide had gone directly to the ship) we were on our way. Zaw is very articulate, professional, speaks excellent English, and is very knowledgable. He filled us on the history and culture of Myanmar and gave us excellent descriptions of the sites we were seeing. The itinerary was flexible and Zaw was very accommodating when we wanted to make some changes. We would definitely recommend Santa Maria Travel, and Zaw as a guide.
