Great views but not the best ones from the canyon. Still any point in the canyon is eye catchy. The plus here is the nearby Juanita museum, which is prepared to host the mummy kept now in Arequipa, the entrance is free.

You are literally in the middle of nowhere with mountains far away. We even saw a volcano letting off some steam in the distance.
There are many markers here but I have to say, I was sucking air at this point but when I stayed still all was fine. So no time to really explore unless I wanted to be totally exhausted.
There are a few vendors here but no refreshments. It's usually a short stop for most people as there is little more than signage and stone markers.
No toilets. No water. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking.

This is a neat spot but hard to take good pictures since the mountains are so far off. You can see most (all?) of the significant peaks and volcanos of the area from one spot. There are markers facing the direction of each peak with the name and height of the peaks. It's worth a 15 minute stop of you are in the area.
Note this is a high altitude -- take it easy!

Stopped for a breath of thin air,lovely barren area but just splendid.The smokers amongst our group fond it difficult to enjoy,me,felt the altitude more than I cared to admit but interesting place.

We stopped here for 15 minutes whilst en route to Colca Canyon. You notice the change in altitude, a couple of us were feeling light headed and our hearing went. At this viewpoint there were a couple of locals selling souvenirs, stone monuments and plaques to tell you which Volcanoes were which. It was quite nice to get out and stretch our legs here whilst getting some photographs.

Strange barren place. Great views, distant mountains, smoking volcanoes, high altitude, what's not to love?

Hard to miss as most of the routes take you past here! We went in April and there was snow on the ground. It was so amazing!
You can see all 8 volcanoes (2 are still active) that surround the region. You really see how huge the valley is and how this is one of the biggest Canyons in the world.
Highly recommend stopping at this view point and taking it all in. Have a jacket just incase it's snowed or is snowing.

Another spectacular viewpoint that makes you realise just how big the canyon is. Fairly easy to find because most of the route follows the road.

The San Miguel Viewpoint was a memorable stop. Without a trace of vegetation it felt more like a moonscape than an Andean Plateau. You are also at very high elevation, which slows everything down and combined with all the grey rock around you, makes for an almost surreal experience.
