After some time in Armenia, you would have visited a few dozen churches and monasteries, so it's difficult not to become over-saturated. But, remember, this is the cultural heritage of a very proud country with a lengthy Christian history.
Saghmosavank is probably more exciting because of its sensational location : overlooking the precipitous gorge carved by the Kasagh river, it makes for incredibly picturesque photos.

This monastery has special interest.
It was built in mouth of big canyon ,when you go from back side of monastery it seems the globe is ending here.
The straight slopes of the gorge start and you see no end of it. Fabulous view of endless Armenian landscape.

True freedom and true liberty can only be achieved, attained and celebrated if you can be who you are, practice your spirituality and sing your joy.
A 13th century church. A church within a church. I went there without a tour-guide and obviously I missed a lot.
Certainly one of the must see churches in Armenia; whether you are on a pilgrimage journey or a cultural one.
Either or, do take a tour guide with you and don't miss out on the legends and story behind this mesmerizing house of psalms.

Like others have said, this place is stunning. We had hired a car, so drove up here and parked in the car park which is very close to the monastery.
The monastery itself is beautiful, but the setting around it, with the hills and the deep gorge make it truly stunning. It wasn't too busy with tourists when we were there and there was in fact a wedding taking place. Phillip8789 said he wasn't able to go inside when they visited, but luckily the service had finished, so we were able to still wander around.
For me, the inside wasn't as amazing as the outside, but was still also worth a look. Just have a wander around the whole complex and enjoy the scenery.

The monastery was not terribly memorable (though the double church design was novel to me) . The location, though, is great. It was a little busy when we visited due to a wedding (or two, or three....) and the parking was a little tricky. However, there is nothing to beat the views. Hovhannavank is just down the road, but this one is a little bigger and busier based on one day's evidence.

This monastery overlooks the steep canyon of the Kasakh River. This 13th century church perches on the rim of the cliff, and its exterior decorations show special attention to the southern and western facades, which are illuminated by the sun as travelers approach the building. The complex inlucdes a book repository and a cemetery, where beautiful carvings adorn the graves.

Saghmosavank is a 13th-century Armenian monastic complex located in the village of Saghmosavan in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. Like the Hovhannavank Monastery which is five kilometers south, Saghmosavank is situated atop the precipitous gorge carved by the Kasagh river. Their silhouettes dominate the adjacent villages and rise sharp against the background of the mountains crowned by Mount Aragats.
The main temples of the monasteries erected by Prince Vache Vachutyan – the Church of Zion in Saghmosavank (1215) and the Church of Karapet in Hovhannavank (1216-1221) belong to the same type of cross-winged domed structure with two-floor annexes in all the corners of the building. Subcupola space predominates in the interiors of both churches, which is reflected in the exterior shapes of these structures.
We visited this place on the way back from climbing on Mt.Aragats.
Definitely worth to visit there.
Quite well preserved and offers breathtaking views around and above the gorge of Kasagh river.

This 13th century monastery is located on the edge of a cliff, over the cliff and the canyon you have a great view from the complex. The monastery, or at least what remains, is quite compact, everything is build next to each other. Outside and inside there are some nice carvings and inside there are some remains of the original frescoes.
