Great Course but greens needs some TLC
Beautiful course but pace of play was surprisingly slow, even though it didn’t seem that busy. Greens are pretty pocked marked…fairways are well maintained. Bring plenty of balls if you play close to the edges…if you go out of bounds you’ll never find it in the jungle. You only see the ocean on the 16th green & tee box of 17, but the view is amazing. Absolutely worth playing a round, but it’s an expensive treat. Don’t forget your “special glove” as they require it here.

    Honeymoon Golf
My wife and I visited this course during our honeymoon. It was quite a hot day, but it was an enjoyable experience. The round ended up being around $300 ($150 for greens fee with Secrets Playa Blanca, $80 club rental, $70 rider fee). The course is beautiful, but it is a little pricey, especially for the rider. At least transportation to and from the resort and the cart was included. I probably wouldn't play it again, but I would recommend it at least once. I had never played out of the country or near the ocean before. That being said, there is only one hole with a view of the ocean. We visited in August, and it was pretty slow. There were some slow groups with caddies, but we finished in under 4 hours. You should definitely bring shoes, water, golf balls, and a glove since they will try to rip you off for $15 for three balls. On a course like this level of difficulty, you will run out of those fast. Be on the lookout for the iguanas!

Golfing in Mexico is a treat
I was able to go out and play solo so I got around the course in less than 2 hours. The cost is up there but it was a bucket list to play. The staff are absolutely awesome there and so friendly. The course was in good shape. The greens were a little rough but still puttable. Couple cool holes with a view of the ocean. But the shuttle drivers were not good. Unfortunately I went flying in the back and smoked my head on the seat in front. But all in all I was great.

Wonderful visit to this golf course, four of us played around of 18 here and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. We had a group of varying ability and all found the course challenging but fun.

Course conditions:
We played in mid-April and the fairways were perfect, we played at about 3pm so the sun had made them very firm which helped propel a few well hit shots further but made chipping a bit hard the closer to the green. For players from the UK like us, do not expect any rough - there is only really fairway and OOB until you get near the greens and even then the second cut is very fine. Greens themselves were slow but challenging if not close to the pin, especially one hole that had a steep drop the other side of the pin.

Staff: all staff were brilliant, ordering drinks via the cart was great and the guy driving bought us extra ice (very much needed) even the groundstaff stepped in to give us some extra balls at a very reasonable price (think it was like $20 for 20 lake balls)

Price:

Our round for club hire/golf cart rental and some other fees was $135 we did not pay green fees as that was included in our stay at Dreams.

Clubs were in very good condition and were not at fault for some of the poor ball striking despite what some in our group may say in the moment

Would 100% play again if in Cancun

And we did see the gator on the last hole!

Great course! For us, the course provides a good balance of scenery, interesting hole designs, playability, and challenge. Most fairways are wide and green complexes provide reasonable bail-out options. However, outside of those generous fairways you're in deep jungle or water; so, really errant shots (or even good shots on windy days) wind up unplayable. Fortunately, a local rule allows all such areas to be played as lateral water hazards; so you can generally keep moving ahead with your group.

It is expensive if you're not staying at the associated resort, but the payoff for those high green fees is that it's usually not crowded at all during the week. They also offer some good specials depending on where you're staying and how much you play.

The staff are all awesome...first-class service throughout the entire experience.

The golf was priced as you would expect but I guess fair. We needed clubs, balls etc I believe it was about $130 per person total. Balls were $3 a ball. This course was great in perfect condition. We enjoyed the course greatly.

The course itself is beautiful. You have no marshall out there checking the pace of play. A couple was teeing off on hole 1 I'm sitting behind them in my cart a group of 3 drives right around me while the guy is teeing off and proceeds to get on the tee box. Words were exchanged then I teed off. But the pace was slow no one was letting people play through and no one at the course was enforcing anything.

You may be quoted a green fee in USD. But if you are NOT paying in USD cash, beware! This club, different from others, uses a higher exchange rate to overcharge your credit card. Details: every currency exchange has a buy and sell rate. If you are paying by a credit card, the course wants you to BUY USD. So, they would calculate how much Peso you will need to buy a USD. Then they charge you in Peso! This way your credit card is over charged. What they should have done is to use the SELL rate to calculate how much THEY would get if they were to take your USD to the bank. They pretend they are doing it right, citing it's your bank service charge (it is NOT) and refuse to understand. Beware! If you ever paid a Mexican resort in USD, you would know they charge the exact USD quoted to your credit card.

Last day of our holiday, wanted to comment on the five rounds of golf I played at playa mujeres.
I have played nearly all the courses in Cancun and riviera maya, this being my first visit to playa. The booking process was so easy, using wots app I was able to communicate with the pro shop and book all my rounds in advance. I was staying nearby and transport to and from my hotel was part of the package. Because I played multiple rounds I payed 155 dollars each round. In terms of other courses in the area this is comparable, if a little expensive compared to the UK.
The booking in process was easy, a shout out to the marvellous lady, who’s name I missed, who was in charge of the pro shop and tee booking. She was a pleasure to deal with and a credit to the course.
The course itself was in excellent condition, I played off various tees and it presents a challenge for all standards, plenty of water but not too tight off the tee. All in all an excellent course that I would highly recommend if you are staying this side of cancun.

Beautiful golf course but certainly not free if you are staying at Dreams or Secrets Playa Mujeres. Advertised as free golf you still have to pay $98 each in tax and club hire is $60 per set. We had hoped to play several times but settled for once. PS you do get a free sleeve of balls each).

It’s a shame really as the course is quite beautiful. Brilliant wildlife (crocodiles, iguanas, herons, cormorants). Some of the holes are spectacular (particularly the 15th, I think, which runs down to the sea). One quirky thing is that you the golf cart path runs right through the beach area of the Atelier Studios hotel.

Golf shop is really good. However there are no changing rooms.

If I could give Playa Mujeres a dual rating, it would be 5+ for shape of the course and excellent staff. But, I would have to give a 3 for the conditions. I played the course twice and the wind were brutal. On both days winds were easily gusting 30-40mph. But as a stated, the staff, especially the bartender on the 19th were 5+. I would highly recommend the course, just pay attention to the weather.

Course is in amazing shape and staff is so very helpful. Special rate if you stay at one of the local courses on Costa or Playa Mujeres. No issues getting tee time as apparently this was slow season, we had 10:30 AM tee times and no one else on course

I did not know exactly what to expect when My buddy and I left the resort (Secrets Playa Mujeres) in the direction of the golf course. Being a GN design I knew it was going to be challenging for sure. I was extremely pleased with the entire experience. From the process of checking in to the 18th green, I was blown away with the scenery that surrounded the course, the overall condition of the course, and the hospitality that the greens keepers and staff showed us during our time there. Keep up the great work!
