Golden sept is really good to visit. It is clear and Sun shine brightly with the pure blue sky.The air here you breathe is full with the nature aroma.
The highlights is. four times flying time each day and you can enjoy the beauty of these birds.

Wonderful place

Very attraction to the heart. The red crown cranes are so beautiful and elegant especially when they fly sliding the sky. One must think that they are from the heaven. The swamps are environment friendly with clear water and blue sky and high grass that sing while the wind comes.

red headed cranes are cool

It's a bit of a trek by shuttle bus and boat and it's a pretty average grassland bird preserve. it seems more of a circus display than a bird preserve - the birds come out on cue and the handlers throw food out to get them going. it is pretty damn cool though to see so many of those cranes swooping overhead.

Beautiful day on the reserve. Great tour guide. Museum a little out dated. Saw Crane release and flew over our heads. Then took fun boat ride back. Beautiful reeds, calming

Better than expected

From Qiqihar we took the number 9 bus (2 rmb) then the 306 bus (10 rmb) to the park entrance. Paid 75 to get in and 10 for the round trip shuttle to the wetland. There is a lake and some grasslands with meandering streams. You walk along paths and boardwalks trying to avoid tour guides with megaphones. There are cages with several species of cranes and you start to wonder where the wildlife is. There are opportunities for boat rides but there's nothing you can't see from shore. Walk to the end where everyone is amassed and wonder what all the fuss is.
Then suddenly a flock of magnificent cranes appears from behind a hill, flies overhead, circles once and comes to rest just on the other side of the stream from the crowd.
The cranes are the Asian equivalent of North America's Sandhills cranes, easily five feet tall with eight foot wingspans, white and black and wearing little red baseball caps. The flock is kept in a cage on the other side of the hill and let out for feeding.
Alas, no wild cranes to be seen. They migrate and you probably have to be there at the right time of the year.

It is a quite pleasant trip, only a short drive away from Qiqihaer downtown. Fresh air and nice scenery. A change from city life. The crane fly show, no mine.
